This injury is usually painful and is located at the pubic or thigh level

Our collaborator FisioPinar Clinic tells us on this occasion the causes and treatment of Pubalgia. It is a painful syndrome that is located at the level of the pubis that radiates to the groin, thigh or suprapubic area

Causes

There may be different causes that cause this pain:

Muscular : muscular overload, shortening, weakness ...

Bad sporting gesture: bad hit to the ball, no previous warm-up.

Even the characteristics of the sport itself: speed changes, unbalanced falls, excessive braking ...

Biomechanical alterations of the subject: Lower limb dysmetria, flat / cavus / combed feet, valgus / varus knees, vertebral column deviations.

Visceral: referred pain from some abdominal viscus.

At the beginning of PUBALGIA pain appears after physical activity, as the injury progresses, the athlete notices the pain during physical activity and even at the beginning and in very acute phases feels pain at rest, even when crossing the legs .

Pubalgia Treatment

Transmission

In the pubalgia there is a shearing of the pubic region due to the crossing of forces between the abdominal and adductor muscles. It is very important to influence the correct balance between abs and adductors, so the treatment should be directed mainly to rebalance this muscle balance.

Preventive exercises stretching and elasticity before and after exercise, always avoiding pain, of: quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, pyramids, adductors, rectus abdominis and obliques.

Abdominal potentiation

Avoid hyperproteic diets.

Descansos enough in training.

Resting Time in the acute case of the injury.

Massage, hyperthermia, thigh yes necessary.

If they do not give in, go back to the traumatologist for infiltration  or possible surgical treatment.
