Seven additions to the 2027 calendar
The new season introduces significant changes to the series lineup. IRONMAN Lanzarote will make its Pro Series debut , while five IRONMAN 70.3 events from Oman, Spain, France, Sweden, and Germany will be added to the circuit.
In addition to these, the IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant returns to the Pro Series, so it is more accurate to talk about seven additions to the calendar than seven completely new events.
Valencia and Lanzarote represent Spain
Spain will host two events on the calendar. The IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia will take place on April 18th and will award up to 2.500 points, while the IRONMAN Lanzarote will be held on May 15th with a maximum of 5.000 points.
At Triathlon News we have also analyzed what the entry of Valencia and Lanzarote into the IRONMAN Pro Series 2027 means , two additions that also represent the two distances of the circuit.
How to score in the 2027 IRONMAN Pro Series
Professionals can compete in any races they choose, but only their five best results will count towards the final ranking. Of these, a maximum of three can come from full-distance IRONMAN races.
Victories in IRONMAN events award 5.000 points , and those in IRONMAN 70.3, 2.500 points.
The two World Championships are worth more: Kona will award up to 6.000 points and Chattanooga up to 3.000 points.
Starting from the winner's score, each second difference at the finish line equals one point less for the rest of the participants.
Men and women will compete in all events
Another change confirmed by IRONMAN for 2027 is that male and female professionals will compete during the same weekend in the 16 events that make up the Pro Series.
In Frankfurt, for example, this will mean bringing the two professional categories together again for the first time since 2022.
Six weeks between the two World Championships
The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will be held in Chattanooga on August 28 and 29, 2027.
The season will end six weeks later, on October 9 in Kona , with the IRONMAN World Championship.
This separation will be greater than the one existing in 2026 between Nice and Kona and will give more time for recovery to professionals who plan to compete in both World Championships.
2027 IRONMAN Pro Series Awards
The final ranking will distribute a bonus of $1,7 million among the top 50 professionals.
The top ten men and top ten women will share $1,3 million of that prize money, with $200.000 going to the champion and the female champion . The remaining $400.000 will be distributed among the finishers in 11th through 50th place.
The Pro Series races themselves will distribute another $2,5 million in prizes.
Beyond these 16 races, IRONMAN also plans nearly 50 professional competition events and over two million dollars in additional prize money. The franchise's professional program will thus exceed six million dollars in competition-related prizes by 2027.
All events will be broadcast free of charge
IRONMAN has confirmed that all 16 races of the 2027 Pro Series will be broadcast live and free of charge internationally.
Coverage will be available through the official Pro Series platforms, YouTube and other broadcast partners depending on the territory.
The season will kick off on February 6 in Muscat and will travel across four continents before the final standings are decided on October 9 in Kona.
