10 + 1 Tips for your first triathlon

If you are going to debut as if you do not remember that the most important thing of all is to enjoy this great sport, you will not forget the moment you reach the finish line, you will have achieved your challenge and as soon as you finish you will be thinking about the next race.

  1. The day before the race remember to put all the necessary things for the competition in your bag.
  2. Review the regulations carefully to avoid the most common mistakes and avoid your disqualification.
  3. Take a look at the route, the way to enter and exit the transition zone, the number of laps you have to do on each circuit, etc. This will help you not to be "lost" during the test.
  4. Try to go to the bathroom before the test, because then surely you get the "pee of the nerves" and there are usually not many bathrooms in competitions.
  5. If you are going to debut, the best thing is that you let everyone throw themselves into the water and then do it, so you will feel more secure and you will be less burdened because you will not be surrounded by people in the water.
  6. During swimming, take out your head every 4 or 5 strokes to guide you, because if you only swim in the pool, not seeing the bottom will be a bit strange and you'll get sidetracked.
  7. Do not forget to put on your helmet before taking the bike, it carries a warning. And when you go to leave the bike do not take it off until you hang it on the fence.
  8. Be attentive to the judge before riding and dismount the bike, In the competition there will be an officer with a flag that will indicate that from that point you can mount / dismount the bike.
  9. Do not give everything on the bike, remember that then you have the race, better reserve a bit to reach the last segment with strength.
  10. The feeling of running after the cycling sector is a little peculiar, do not worry that it disappears, so go grabbing your race pace little by little.
  11. And of course, do not forget to enjoy your first triathlon and the arrival at the finish line, as they say "there is only a first time"
