How to train in the first weeks of the season? By Alejandro Santamaría

You have to be hard headed and know that with perseverance we will run fast again

Alejandro Santamaria  he tells us in the next article how to propose the first part of the season and the mistakes that have to be avoided in order to reach the 100% at the objective moment of the season.

In the first months of training we have to have patience. After a few days of rest we have lost the form and started at a pace very far from our best moment. And that hurts.

However we have to have cold blood and have no problem running 30 seconds slower With the same effort, we do not have to hurry to run at the same pace as when we were in shape. Patience!!

Christmas leaves us some extra kilo and winter less time and desire to train. You have to be tough on your head and know that with perseverance we will run fast again. Y do not fall into the mistake of forcing from the first day to go to the previous rhythms. We go more slowly but do not lose your calm and know that in a few weeks everything returns to normal. We are not finished.

In the first weeks it is also important to do very slow workouts where we work to the metabolism of fats and if fasting is better.

When you play slow you have to be slow and when it's quick to be fast.

In the first weeks it is also good to do some intense workouts, work speed and strength. You have to do intervals with very high rhythms, VAM and VO2, but taking care of the duration of the intervals and not wanting to do the most intense training of the year now. I like to do for example series on slope running or using the roller to make short series of bike or specific force works with large developments. The gym and weights They must be good allies in these weeks.

Patience is the first virtue of the long distance. The results will come but do not be in a hurry to get them now! and you have to know that the route has to be progressive and planning has to go smoothly.

Must be careful with the cycling gypsies where it is easy to get bitten and we will always have someone who wants to show you on every slope that they are better than you. If we are clever, we should not get itchy, it is not necessary to show everyone who passes us on the road how good we are. That's what competitions are for. And we must know how to differentiate between not being able and not wanting. In these weeks it is better not to want to and try to respect our rhythm. Patience!!

In all groups there are always some athletes who start the year very motivated and want to press and show how good they are at every opportunity. The motivation is not infinite and you have to know how to keep it for when you have to train harder. Now we have to go fulfilling the program and improving little by little. Normally those who are now onfire in a few months will be ko and without desire.

The goal has to be reach our 100% at the right time and that this cap is very high and lasts a long time. The longer it takes to reach that 100% the higher it will be and the longer it will last. So be patient.
