What is HYROX?

In the field of endurance sports, HYROX It is rapidly establishing itself as a discipline that combines intensity and variety.

This indoor competition format is especially attractive for triathletes and endurance athletes looking for new challenges and comprehensive training.

What is HYROX?

HYROX is an endurance test that combines running and functional training stations.

Participants must run 1 km and then perform a functional training station; this cycle is repeated eight times, in a format that mixes cardio and strength.

Unlike other competitions, HYROX takes place indoors, ensuring a controlled environment and adding a touch of spectacle to the event.

The eight seasons of HYROX

Each HYROX competition includes eight functional training stations, designed to work on different physical capacities:

  • SkiErg: This resistance exercise primarily works the upper body and is an intense warm-up that activates the cardiovascular system.
  • Sled Push: A weighted sled that participants must push, which requires leg strength.
  • Sled Pull: Similar to the Sled Push, but this time the athlete must pull the sled, working on strength and muscle endurance.
  • Burpee Broad Jumps: This burpee variation is demanding, combining strength and explosiveness in the jump for a test of agility and endurance.
  • Rowing: The rowing test allows you to work on your upper body and core strength, being a strategic pause that requires rhythm and technique.
  • Farmers Carry: Here athletes must carry weights on each side, working on balance and grip strength.
  • Sandbag Lunges: This test requires carrying a sandbag while performing lunges, testing stability and strength in the legs.
  • Wall Balls: The final exercise, throwing a ball against the wall from a squat position, challenges the endurance in the legs and shoulders.

A format that attracts triathletes and endurance athletes

HYROX has caught the attention of many triathletes, runners and crossfitters.

This sport allows them to improve their endurance, while developing strength, agility and coordination.

In addition, the indoor environment offers a completely different experience to traditional outdoor events, with the public cheering on the athletes from close up, generating a unique atmosphere.
