Looking for a star for the Triathlon: Sara Ruiz Serrano

This week Felipe Gutiérrez interviews a new promise from the triathlon Sara Ruiz Serrano

I found Sara very spirited, we could say "butt" after debuting in the Olympic distance and getting a 3rd place in the Madrid qualifier. The test has helped her to come to the CAR today with “charged batteries” and with a lot of desire to face the remainder of the season. She is a junior triathlete and belongs to the Diablillos de Rivas Triathlon Club.

They know her by "Miami", here the normal thing is to have a nickname and she comes from years ago when in twenty she got "Sara Miami" and that's how she stayed. It has 18 years and nothing fulfills the 19, if you want to congratulate her in June concretely ...

With Sara it happened to me and for the first time in my life that listening to it, the recorder went off and half of the interview was "lost in the cyber space". Well thank goodness I take notes. He left me absorbed in his answers, his maturity misled me, it was a pleasant chat.

On Facebook 1712 has "friends" and we share 409, it is very followed in social networks, although it is clear that you should take care of them a little more.

TN- How was your debut in the Olympic distance triathlon?

SR- Well it was impressive, I'm delighted and I also made a third place, it was a result that I did not expect. In the water very well, I never found myself uncomfortable, On the bike I think there were too many people was not a clean test, many guys passing and in the foot race I enjoyed it, I controlled a lot, not "pete" and mentally it was strange because after the first round I thought "I have three left" and it was strange, so when I had half of it, everything was great because the support of the people I knew helped me a lot. The people here in the CAR got involved with me.

TN- Do you remember your first steps in sports?

SR- If when I was very little I started doing taekwondo and I did it until I was sixteen, I'm a black belt. And also practice karate of which I am a brown belt.

Sara Ruiz, trialteta

TN- I could not have imagined it, blonde, sweet ...

SR- Well yes, I spent many hours

TN- What do you study?

SR- Nursing study ...

TN- And what would you like to do in the future of that profession?

SR- I would like to be a nurse in an ambulance or maybe in pediatrics or in the emergency room.

TN- And in the triathlon how did you start?

SR- My Physical Education teacher Oscar Lado proposed it to me since I was running and he invited me to try it, and until now ...

TN- What do you like most about training in the CAR ?, I suppose it is very hard to be here every day.

SR- What I like the most is that I have a training group that is very important and the coaches that you have and that you should trust to the fullest. All this helps you improve, the days you go wrong you have people who are "pulling" you and that mentally helps you a lot. After having everything nearby, the track, the pool at 100 meters, the Country House next door ...

Having the weekly training plan since Monday, I do not have bad times because I'm mentalizing with some hard training that may be in the week. What most costs me anyway is the time to throw myself into the water, which is sometimes cold, then you throw away and that's it ..., just that little moment.

TN- Do you do something else besides studying and training? Do you like to do different things?

SR- There are many things that I like to do, apart from some time when I can do something taekwondo And when Sergio leaves me, I'll go. I also like to paint, since I was a child I painted pictures, I like animated cartoons.

Also go out with my bitches, I have three and many animals at home ...

TN- Tell me about that you have many animals at home

SR- I love animals, I have three bitches, two parakeets, three canaries, a hamster, two pigeons and a turtle ...

Sara Ruiz, trialteta

TN- But where do you live?

SR- I live in a normal house, I have them spread around the house

TN- And your parents who tell you?

SR- It's that my parents love them

TN- What about coming to the CAR to train every day, do not try to convince you that it is very hard and that ...?

SR- That goes, that goes ... they support me a lot, and even my father when he sees me in a competition that I do not suffer, he tells me: "you should have suffered more ...", so when he sees me I give everything is when I am happiest this.

TN- Do you admire a triathlete?

SR- Of course I admire the people who are up there like Javier Gomez Noya ...

TN- Do you admire him as handsome or good?

SR- Noooo, where he has come from, he is world champion (he laughs) and handsome too (he blushes and laughs, we better get out of this "puddle" where I got it)

Then there are people that you take as a reference sometimes like a Miriam CasillasI have her as an example for what she does for what she studies and how she has gotten up there without having been a swimmer, all of this motivates me

Sara Ruiz, trialteta

TN- The 2015 is already underway, you've already run tests, what do you have in mind for what's left, what comes next?

SR- Corrí Quarteira and I was happy with her I got an 35º position, then in Melilla I went swimming and I had to return to a buoy and bad ...

TN- You were also in the Spanish Duathlon Championship, there I did not see you very far ahead

SR- I do not like the duathlon very much, I went out a little fast and that kills me, the exit in the duathlon kills me, I prefer to start with the water and not to run.

And speaking of what is coming, this weekend is the Copa del Rey where we will go all out for the team. And in June the Spanish Triathlon and Aquathlon Championship in Pontevedra and also at the Olympic distance that I will go. Internationally, I don't think I have anything left, no idea, the Junior European Championship is there, we will have to get it in Spain.

TN- I see you more strongly, more motivated after Saturday's triathlon

SR- It gave me a lot of motivation, today I'm very busy, I think that not having pain or anything is mental.

TN- Do you have any sponsors, any help?

SR- Not nothing, I have not looked for anything either, I do not know much about that, but my main sponsor is my father. Also some help from the team and nothing more ...

Sara Ruiz, trialteta

TN- Would you like to thank someone this moment that you are living?

SR- All this that I am living, I thank mainly for my father, who is the one who supports me and especially with those who started Oscar Lado and Dani Puerta and with those from here who have trusted me and have bet on me in These two years I have been here and they have always supported me when I lost and when I won, thanks Sergio, Benito and Adrian.

Today I came to the CAR to do something soft, we went with her to the lawn to see her "jogging comfortable" and then she went with her companions to the Casa de Campo. I am sure that she will gradually increase in quality, she is very serious, hardworking and you can have a long conversation with her without having to talk "just" about triathlon, her passion, her sport and maybe we can see her in a hand soon hand with those you admire. So be careful! Miriam Casillas that Sara "is going to stop". See you in the next tests.
