Next Sunday 31 August Austria will host a new edition of the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun, a classic test in the calendar European that this year presents more than 100 professionals on the start list.

In addition, it will be the last stop of the IRONMAN Pro Series before the World Championships, and one of the first to allocate places for the 70.3 2026 World Championships in Nice.

Favorites in the women's event

The British Kat matthews She arrives as a great reference after an impeccable season. This year she has won at IRONMAN Texas and 70.3 Swansea, as well as a second place in Hamburg, behind only the world champion. Laura Philipp.

At her side, the Norwegian Solveig Lovseth, recent winner in Lake Placid, will try to pull off an upset. Also in the mix will be Anne Reichmann, winner in South Africa, and the Austrian Lisa Perterer, who has already demonstrated his level in middle distance.

Germany also presents a very strong block with Daniela Cleiser y Lena Meißner, both with short distance credentials and high walking speed.

A masculine poster with a German flavor

In men, all the spotlights point to the German Rich Bogen, the 70.3 IRONMAN 2023 world champion, who starts as the top favorite. He will be joined by names such as Thor Bendix Madsen, Dylan magnien and British Thomas Bishop.

Among the regulars on the circuit are also Jonas hoffmann, who has several top-5 finishes this year, the Australian cam wurf —always competitive in the cycling sector— and the British Andrew Horsfall-Turner, a great candidate to lead the water sector.

Two Spaniards on the starting line

Spain will have double representation in Austria. Nacho Villarruel continues his most demanding season with another international event after having competed in four full IRONMANs in 2025. Although the middle distance is not his usual terrain, his consistency makes him a sure bet.

For its part, Vicente Hernández He continues to make progress in his return after a four-year absence due to injury. With recent podium finishes in Zarautz and strong performances in the 70.3m, the Tenerife native is looking to consolidate his comeback and fight to be among the best.
