3200 inscribed in the Ironman 70.3 of Mallorca

The General Director of Sports, Javier Morente, yesterday participated in the presentation of the Triathlon Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 that, for the third consecutive year, the next 11 in May will be held in Alcúdia.

 

Javier Morente has highlighted the high participation with 3.200 registrations already carried out by athletes of 67 different nationalities, a figure that reflects an increase of 39% in relation to the previous edition and that consolidates Triathlon, as the general director has said, “as one of the most anticipated sporting events”.

 

Javier Morente has highlighted, in addition to the international nature of the event, the global projection that is made of the Balearic destination and has reiterated the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to those sporting events that give the autonomous community an added value and that allow the international promotion of the destination.

 

In this sense, the general manager explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is working on the specialization and diversification of the offer with the aim of consolidating the Balearic Islands as a reference destination for various tourism products, among which is sports tourism.

 

The general manager thanked the organization for the third consecutive year of Alcúdia as the stage where the competition will be held consisting of 1,9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21,1 km of the race.

 

It is worth mentioning that in this edition we will have the vice champion of the world of the Ironman Hawaii 2012 and 2010, Andreas Raelert, who has been in today's presentation, and with Daniel Unger, 2007 world champion in the Olympic distance. In addition, the celebration of the Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Triathlon also marks the start of the European Ironman 70.3 season.
