Spain favorite for the European Triathlon Championship Sub23 and Youth
Spain will be represented by 14 triathletes
After the great level offered in the past European Triathlon Championships Elite, paratriathlon, junior and GG.EE., this weekend the Spanish team goes to Penza (Russia) to play the Continental Championship in Sub23 and Youth category; an appointment to which Spain arrives with a total of 14 triathletes. Located on the banks of the Sura River, the town of central Russia will host between the 28 and 29 of June two intense and vibrant triathlon days.
The Sub23 competitions will take place throughout Saturday 28 June. The Spanish team arrives with a broad representation, led by the recent bronze medal in Kitzbühel, Vicente Hernández, Together with David Castro, Uxio Abuín, Nan Oliveras, Lucas Mola y Ricardo Hernández.
On the other hand, Melina Alonso and Miriam Casillas (winner of the Larache Africa Cup just a week ago) they will face the women's competition. All of them will face a circuit formed by 1.5 km of swimming, followed by 40 km cyclists along 8 turns by a route integrated by a strong ascent, crossing a wooded area and a very fast descent. Next, 10 km of running on a flat stretch that incorporates some small slopes and turns.
The day of Sunday 29 in June will be reserved for relay competitions, in which each component will have to make a vertiginous route composed of 250 m of swimming in the lake, followed by 5 km cyclists to finish with 1.6 km of running race, before giving the turn to his teammate.
In the Europa Youth Championship, which is played in the relay mode, in the women's category we will go out with Cecilia Santamaría, Raquel Mateos and Ana Carvajal; while in boys, Alberto González, Javier Lluch and Andrés Cendán will participate. After them, the European Sub23 Mixed Relay Championship will be held, a fast-paced competition that will be responsible for closing this European event.
