The German Schmitt and the Mallorcan Colom win the International Triathlon Portocolom

The sixteenth edition of the Portocolom International Triathlon was resolved today with the victory of the German Natascha Schmitty the Mallorcan Toni Colom over his 111 kilometers of competition in a fast-paced morning.

 

Schmitt and Colom, with two impressive performances in the cycling segment, have achieved the victory in a day marked by good weather and excellent weather conditions. Almost 600 triathletes have competed between the two events that were held today (55.5 and 111) in this traditional event that is one of the first in the European calendar.

 

 

After 1 km of swimming, 100 km of cycling and 10 km of foot race the former cyclist Toni Colom managed to impose with a huge rotund German Andreas Dreitz, one of the favorites after his fourth place last year, and finally succumbed to the thrust of the local triathlete in the first of the two climbs to Sant Salvador.

 

"I am very satisfied, it has been a very good day, and the race was perfect for my conditions. I have had problems in swimming and even Sant Salvador I could not catch the German. I decided to push hard to avoid having to play the victory in the race on foot, "said Colom after crossing the finish line. Dreitz was second after managing to keep the distance on the pursuers in the running sector through the streets of the historic center of Portocolom. Sebastian Neef played the podium in a beautiful hand in hand with Bob Martens, and achieved a third place in his first test as a professional.

 

In females, Natascha Schmitt led the test after the cyclist segento after leaving the port of Club Nautic de Portocolom and knew how to make very good profit in the race on foot the difference was expanding, while the German Susan Blatt was second classified.

 

The Danish Tine Holst, who had already managed to get on the podium in this same competition in previous years, achieved a meritorious third place. "The route is beautiful, I am also a good cyclist and I love the bike tour, quite hard and demanding. I was able to run calmly because I knew I had achieved a good advantage in the two climbs to Sant Salvador. I loved the experience, I will repeat because the format is great and the race is very fun and perfect to finish a period of training in Mallorca, "said Schmitt.

 

In parallel, an 55.5 test (500 m of swimming, 50 of cycling and 5 of running) that concluded with the victories of the Belgian was also held. Gleenn Pouleunis in the male and the german category Lydia Liebnitky in the female category.

 

There were also famous faces competing in Portocolom, such as former professional cyclist Marcel Wust (19º of the general) and Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz, who competed in relays with his wife.
