The Jaca-Candanchú Triathlon is postponed until April

During the last days the uncertainty has been taking over organizers and participants of the II Winter Triathlon Jaca-Candanchú. The intense snowfall of recent days has been complicating everything. The organization faced with the current situation has decided move the date, possibly, to the first weekend of April. Given the advanced date, it is most likely that the third segment will be carried out in the modality of cross-country skiing, instead of in the background, which will undoubtedly change the profile of the participant.

According to the organizing club Mayencos, the military detachment of Candanchú, as a result of the accumulation of snow fallen during the last few weeks, does not have enough space to mount what would be the second transition, in which the triathletes change the bike on skis.

On the other hand, the access by the national road to the border, where the participants had to ride on bicycles, is cut by the snow because of the risk of avalanches existing on that stretch of road.

As a result, the organization was obliged to have access to the transition zone by the Candanchú crossing, which, together with the abundant snow accumulated on the sides of the road, would complicate the movement of vehicles, skiers and their own. participants.

Mayencos points out that, until the last moment, they have been looking for solutions, but it has continued to snow, making it impossible to fit these spaces.
