Susana Rodríguez bronze in Edmonton

Great level of the Spaniards in the Paratriathlon World Championship

 

 

Edmonton has also become a stage for the different categories of Paratriathlon World Championship. After a brilliant performance, Susana Rodríguez and your guide Mayalen Noriega they have conquered the bronze medal; highlighted in the top positions of the classification as well as Daniel Molina o Jairo Ruiz, both present in the Top-5 of its modalities.

 

Spain came to the appointment with a total of six representatives, along with the guide Mayalen Noriega. They all had to face a circuit consisting of 750 m of swimming, followed by four laps of 5,1 km cyclists through an eminently flat sector on the outskirts of the downtown park, crossing Emily Murphy Hill, with an elevation of 30 along the 400 m. To finish with 4,6 km of running on foot around the park.

 

En PT5, Magnificent Susana Rodríguez and Mayalen Noriega completed the swimming sector in second position. In a very tight competition, the Spaniards were placed third in the course of the cycling sector just seconds from the British Melissa Reid and Alison Patrick, who along with their guides, would lead the competition along the stretch of the race on foot. Finally, Patrick took the gold, with Reid 11 second of the winner, in second position. For its part, after a splendid competition, the Spanish duo reached the bronze medal.

 

In category PT4, Jairo Ruiz was placed 12ª and Toni Franco 20º after making the swim section. Completed the bike segment, a brilliant Ruiz traded positions to be fifth, while Toni Franco started the last sector in 19ª position. The Almeria Ruiz would cross the finish line in a prominent fourth place, after making a great display especially during the cycling segment. Also, Toni Franco obtained the 17º placed in the final classification. The German Martin Schulz signed the victory of the category, followed by the local paratriathlete, the Canadian Stefan Daniel and in third place came Chris Hammer representing the USA.

 

For his part, Daniel Molina stood out from the beginning in PT3, achieving the best part of the initial swimming stretch. Molina would remain in the top positions during the cycling tour, to start the race segment on foot in fourth position. After a great effort, and in a sensational day, Molina runner-up in the Acuatlón World PT3 last Wednesday, qualified in fifth position.

 

The other Spaniard in this category, Alejandro Sánchez, also achieved a great first segment, in order to keep well-placed throughout the three laps of the cycling segment. The 2014 aquatlon World champion in PT3, started the last kilometers of the race on foot in eighth place, and completed a great performance, achieving the ninth final place. The victory went to the Frenchman Lionel Hiffler, with the Austrian Oliver Dreier signing the silver and the Italian Alessio Borgato the bronze medal.

 

While in Male PT1, Francesc Sola has qualified in 10ª position after performing a very regular competition in the three sectors. Sola left the T1 in seventh place and after finishing the cycling segment, started the leg of the race on foot in 11ª position, to enter the finish line in tenth place. The Russian Vasily Egorov proclaimed himself the winner, accompanied on the podium by the Italian Michele Ferrarin and the Frenchman Stephane Bahier.

 

Once again the Spanish paratriathletes offered their great level, achieving remarkable results in Edmonton.
