The siesta time by Felipe Gutiérrez: I will not talk about Hawai'i

Felipe Gutíerrez talks about Eneko Llanos and his tenth participation in the IROMAN World Championship

This weekend everyone talks about the IM of Hawaii, many people have been stuck to the live broadcast of the test and you all know who has won, as have been the Spanish and anything that is public domain. Me after my nap ...

But I do not want to talk about Hawaii, but I do want to talk about a triathlete who was once again fighting for a position in that legendary 10 top and who has been in the triathlon world for more than 20 years.

Without a doubt for me Eneko Llanos He is one of the most recognized Spanish triathletes in the world. Who does not know Eneko? No, he has never won in Kona, but almost, he has not won the Olympics but he was in two Games, Sydney and Athens, but he has won all of us who live in the world of triathlon for his professionalism, for his character, for his education, for never being involved in any kind of controversy, in short for being the way he is.

Now he has the age of 38 years and in the 2004 he won a bronze medal in the European and in the 2003 he was proclaimed Long Distance World Champion celebrated in Ibiza, in addition to other titles such as the XTerra World Cup, among others.

It was 7º this year with a time of 8 hours 20 minutes 10 seconds and in 2008 it was 2º.

He could have been a great pelotari or a discreet swimmer but following in the footsteps of his brother Hektor he approaches the triathlon.

Before the test on his website Eneko says: "It's already here, it's already arrived, there are still hours left for my tenth Ironman from Hawaii, it looks like I just landed in Kona but it's been almost three weeks now and the time has passed quickly. Sensations before the race, calm, peace and tranquility. That's how I feel, maybe more than any other quiet year and wanting to compete. This the mood that I want to maintain throughout the day, peace and calm in a race in which it is very easy to lose your nerves. On a physical level I feel very well, the last practice sessions have been good and above all the rest has been very good, I find myself with strength and desire before the competition so I think the set-up has been correct ".

Eneko Plains in the Ironman of Hawaii

I remember when he started training, his coach at that time was Pedro Garrido, then he started training with Iñigo Mujika, his current coach.

His family is important because in addition to his parents and siblings his greatest emotional support is based on Ruth and Jon.

If living in Vitoria-Gasteiz but as soon as the cold arrives he "escapes" to Lanzarote to continue training. He is a lover of sports, surfing, the mountains and can excel in any triathlon modality, in the winter triathlon more than one podium has achieved.

Without a doubt, he is an athlete to admire, to respect and those who can imitate, although that is very difficult.

Surely after these "10 visits to Kona" will be considering returning and trying to climb to the top of the podium, I will undoubtedly continue betting on him.

If you want to know more about Eneko here is your web http://www.enekollanos.com There you will find out about the life and sporting future of this champion in sports and in the human.

We will follow your steps and thank you for everything you give to the triathlon.
