More than 1.000 triathletes will participate in the Bilbao Triathlon

The race, which will be held at the 20 in May, has already exhausted all available seats for the 'Half' distance three months after the competition is held. In the 'Olympic' distance there are a hundred registrations available.

The seventh edition of the Bilbao Triathlon, which will be played next Saturday 20 May in the Biscayan capital, has already overcome the barrier of a thousand registered participants when there are still less than three months for its conclusion. This way, it surpasses the record of the past year and that of 2017 will become the most multitudinous edition of how many have been celebrated so far.

The Bilbao Triathlon will reach for the second consecutive year the thousand triathletes that are thrown to the Ria del Nervión, climb the Vivero and run along the Abandoibarra promenade to complete, well the medium distance test (1,9 km of swimming, 90 km of bicycle and 21 km of running on foot), or the 'Olimpica' (1,5 - 45 - 10).

NO DORSALES FOR THE 'HALF'

The reign of the Bilbao Triathlon, the middle distance, sold out its 600 seats a few weeks ago and the waiting list is open to cover the casualties that may occur. "We would love to welcome all the participants, but we know from experience that we have to set a limit that guarantees the safety, logistics and enjoyment of all triathletes," says Eneko Ruiz, INNEVENTO Sports Events Director.

For the distance Olympic test there are still a hundred places, which is also expected to be exhausted, as happened in the last edition. "We know that, in the 'Olympic', the last push of participation is given at the end. It is a very nice distance for people who still do not dare to 'Half' and who want to try what it is to compete in the heart of a city like Bilbao, "he adds.

It should be remembered that the available 'Olympic' places are exclusively for federated triathletes because the new regulations of the Basque Federation prevent the registration with a one day license in the triathlons of the Basque Country, unlike what happened in previous years and follows being allowed in the rest of the state.

ELITE PARTICIPATION

In the coming weeks through the profile of Facebook and the Twitter account will begin to reveal the list of elite participants who will take part in this edition of the Bilbao Triathlon, and will fight to wear the 'txapela' in the goal of Arenal. "The one from 2017 will be the most international edition. Last year we made an important jump, with triathletes from more than ten countries and even from America and Oceania, as well as several European countries and the entire peninsula, "says Eneko Ruiz.

Last year the Chilean Barbara Riveros and the australian Ryan Bailie, dominated in the Olympic distance, before taking part in the Rio de Janeiro Games. In medium distance, the Ibero-American champion Gustavo Rodríguez got his third wound while the Swedish Asa Lundström He won his second victory in the streets of Bilbao.
