More de1.100 triathletes will fight for the title of the Copa del Rey and the Queen in Pontevedra

A total of 207 teams and almost 1.100 athletes will participate in Pontevedra in the Copa del Rey and the Reina, one of the main events for the Spanish triathlon calendar clubs.

With this test, the city of Lérez remains faithful to his appointment with triathlon for nine years uninterruptedly in the framework of the second round of the Grand Prix of Spain Cofidis Triathlon.

The day will begin at 13: 00 hours with the dispute of the Copa del Rey and the Reina Reina. In this test 17 will participate female teams and 28 male formed by boys and girls of ages 15 to 17 years.

Then the Open test will begin (14:10 hours), in which the B teams of the clubs that compete in elite participate, where only one team per club can participate. In total, there are 47 registered teams (8 women and 38 men).

The highlight will arrive at the 15: 00 hours with the start of the elite tests, in which there will be a very large participation and with athletes of the highest competitive level. In the female category there will be 45 teams, while in the men's category there is a total of 70.

Among the boys, they stand out as favorites University of Alicante (champion in the 2015), City of Lugo (silver last year, and with a powerful team), Tri-Penta Terras de Lugo (With Antonio Serrat or Luismi Velásquez) or Arcade Inforhouse (Alberto Castiñeira, Antón Ruanova or Diego Paz, in the team).

In the female category, Imps from Rivas defends the title, and will have to fight with powerful clubsor Ferrol Triathlon o City of Lugo.

The Copa del Rey and the Reina is a team time trial, which are made up of a maximum of 6 members and must finish at least four to qualify.

The fourth place is what the team's time is. This test will be developed on the sprint distance (750 meters of swimming, 19 kilometers of bike and 5 of race to pe). The teams are coming out individually and with an interval of 1 minutes between them. The exit order is the reverse of last year's classification, so that the big favorites will be the last to compete.

The main novelty of the test this year is that it will not end at the Galician Center for Sports Tecnification. The activity will focus on the Avenida de Buenos Aires, near the Puente de los Tirantes, since both the exit, the transition and the goal will be located in that area.

Sunday, relays. On Sunday 22 of May (from 09: 00 hours) will be held the Spanish Triathlon Relay Championship, in which the teams are formed by three athletes and each of them will make a small triathlon (250 meters of swimming , 6 kilometers of bicycle and 1,6 of race to pe) and gives the turn to his companion. In addition to the elite, an Open and school test will also be held.
