More than 1.700 athletes will participate in the Spanish Duathlon Championship in Avilés

Emilio Martín and Sara Bonilla seek to revalidate the title of last year in a race of enormous level, with the complete top10 last year in men's category and eight top10 triathletes of the female category.  

The current world runner-up, European champion and leader of the ITU world ranking duathlon Emilio Martín is the main favorite to win in the men's competition, while in women Sara Bonilla y Sara Loehr are the main favorites to the national title in a test where the Venezuelan Joselyn Brea is the favorite to get the first to the finish line, although still unable to compete as a Spanish.

In the male category Emilio Martín is the main favorite to win and next to Huelva there are several duathletes with options to the podium as Mark Yaniz last year's revelation where he was a silver medal, Jesus Gomar (bronze in 2018) and other triathletes who were top6 in Vall d'Uixó as Sergio Lorenzo Karich Moussa o Luis Miguel Martín Berlanas Antonio Benedict y Brais Canosa They are also candidates to fight for everything.

While in the female category a duel of "Saras" is foreseen, between Sara Bonilla y Sara Loehr who are the favorite maxims We must take into account the young Valencian Noelia Juan, trained to fight face to face with the best and also other duathletes like María Varo, Trademarks Hair, Melina Alonso o Ibone Sanchez who aspire to medal.

The Spanish duathlon championship will be played as usual in sprint distance.

Courses

The race on foot takes place in the historic center of the city. With the exit in the Plaza de España, it runs through the Ferrera Park and ends at the Niemeyer Center, which will cross the main square to reach the transition zone located in the San Agustín dock.

Cycling starts from the Niemeyer Center, until reaching the town of Zeluán, which will be crossed to go back in the opposite direction to the roundabout to the Niemeyer center; Once at this point, the short stretch of cycling will be done again to finish at the Niemeyer center. The last segment of the race on foot consists of the link in the opposite direction, and one round to finish at the Plaza de España
