10 Spanish triathletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics?

A few weeks ago the Olympics ended. from Rio de Janeiro, where Spain managed to classify six triathletes, three men and three women, the maximum allowed by country. In the Olympics of Tokyo 2020 there could be up to ... 10 Spaniards !.

On the one hand, as happened in Rio and in London, the "Tri Armada" will fight for the maximum quota, the 6 triathletes. In the men's category, the five-time world champion Javier Gómez Noya He has not ruled out the possibility of fighting to go to Tokyo. Surely also the Olympians 2016 Mario Mola, Fernando Alarza y Vicente Hernández they will also fight for it and with them many more triathletes (*). As regards the female category Miriam Casillas y Carolina Routier surely they will also be fighting for their second olympic games and Ainhoa Murua, we do not know yet his plans, certain is that in 2020 he would have 42 years ... but you can not discard anything, in 2008 Ana Burgos He ran in Beijing with 40 and several months. In addition to them three sure that there will be many more triathletes fighting for Tokyo (*).

If everything goes well Spain could have 6 triathletes in Tokyo for quality and quantity of athletes capable of fighting for it, but ... How would it be possible for 10 to be classified?

As we mentioned in an article a few months ago "Spanish triathletes around the world" there are two 'Spaniards' who will fight to be in Tokyo, on the one hand Galician Anton Ruanova, who since the beginning of this year competes under the Brazilian flag and on the other hand Alberto Casillas who has been running for Lithuania for two years If both succeed, there would be eight ... and the other two places?

The other two places could come from the sisters Alonso, Melina y Camila. Both were born in Neuquen (Argentina) and although so far it has always competed as Spanish could also do by their country of birth and thus fight as Argentine to be in the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Hopefully within 4 years we can rewrite this article counting all readers of www.triatlonnoticias.com that there will be 10 Spaniards in the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020. Finally we also want to comment that if there is any other Spanish triathlete with intent to qualify for Tokyo (representing another country) that you send us the information and we will add the article.

(*) NOTE: We only cited the Spanish Olympic in Rio and we did not want to expand the list of candidates to Tokyo because right now there are many athletes, both male and female categories with options to fight for it and not allow ourselves to none of us have preferred not to mention anyone in particular.
