More than 1.000 triathletes in the XXIX Triathlon of Fuente Álamo, triathlon of triathletes

Five-time champion Jesus Gomar and defending champion Sara Perez are the main favorites to repeat the triumph of last year

This Saturday 12 of May celebrates a new edition, the 29ª, of the Triathlon of Fuente Alamo, also known as the "triathlon of triathletes". Fuente Álamo is the most important triathlon in Spain of all the competitions that take place in tests with drafting (sprint and Olympic distance) also being the one that invests the most in economic awards, more than 22.000 euros, something that elite triathletes are very grateful for, that their work be rewarded.

Many of the great Spanish triathletes in history are in the honor roll at Fuente Álamo, highlighting in the 21st century the victories of Javier Gómez Noya, Ivan Raña, Clemente, Ana Burgos or Marina Daimlamcourt. In the male category Jesus Gomar is who has more wins with 5 in total, while in the female category Ana Burgos has achieved 6 victories.

As we mentioned at the beginning of our previous one, Jesus Gomar y Sara Perez are the main candidates for victory, next to them in the male category highlights the presence of Emilio Aguayo, Roberto Sanchez Mantecon, Uxio Abuin, Javier Romo, Diego Paz y Amitai Yonah, while in women, Melina Alonso, Noelia Juan, María Varo and the sisters Brea (Joselyn y Edymar) are a priori the main rivals of Sara.

The test will start on Saturday at 16.45 hours with the first of five trips, at Rihuete Beach in Mazarrón. After a walk of 750 meters of swimming in open waters, the participants will begin the cycling test, of 25 kilometers with a great slope that will include the already recognized Cuesta de los Ruices until arriving at Fuente Álamo, where the T2 is located, with a innovative system of dissociated boxes implanted a few years ago and which is maintained due to its success and the commitment and work of the volunteers. Finish the triathletes facing the last of the sections, the race on foot, through the streets of Murcia.
