More than 2.500 athletes have participated in the Triathlon Villa de Madrid, second round of the Santander Triathlon Series

Beñat Leku (4: 02: 58) and Araceli Martínez (5: 10: 25) are imposed on the Half

 

 

After a first day where the Supersprint, Sprint and Olympic were protagonists, Sunday has come the turn of the Short (1.000 m swimming / 40 km cycling / 10 km race on foot) and the Half (1.900 m swimming / 80 km cycling / 20 km race on foot).

On a hot Sunday morning, hundreds of triathletes have taken over the Casa de Campo to contest, on this second day, two demanding tests without drafting. With these competitions the second appointment of the Santander Triathlon Series that has gathered more than 2.500 participants in the traditional Triathlon Villa de Madrid.

Beñat Leku, winner in the Half

48 hours of triathlon for all that have culminated with the victory of the Basque Beñat Leku, who returned to the capital to settle a pending account with the test. He got it and, with a time of 4: 02: 58, climbed to the top of the podium after a race in which he has dominated from start to finish. Behind, Alberto Lozano (4: 05: 32) and Francisco Ruiz (4: 08: 29). In the women's category, victory for Araceli Martínez in 5: 10: 25.

In the shorts, shared triumph for José Alix and Yeray Toquero, who crossed the finish line with identical times: 1: 59: 25. The third place went to Alfonso Jiménez (2: 01: 35). Among the triathletes, Esther Leal was the fastest to stop the clock in 2: 16: 56. Second, Anna Jordens (2: 18: 18) and third Conchi Rodríguez (2: 21: 09).

Next stop: Castellón

After the second round of the season, the Santander Triathlon Series now travels to Castellón, where the fifth edition of the Castellón Triathlon is scheduled to take place next July's 3.
