2.600 triathletes at the IRONMAN Barcelona

The town of Calella hosts this weekend the second edition of IRONMAN Barcelona.

More than 2600 triathletes from 67 foríproven will be on the starting line on Sunday 4 in October to complete the 3,8 km of swimming, 180 km of bike and the 42,2 km of the final marathon before crossing the goal arch located under the legendary lighthouse of the city.

Since Thursday afternoon, Calella has become the nerve center of international triathlon. The triathletes and their companions have a large exhibition area with more than 30 companies and brands that offer their products and novelties.

Likewise, different activities are proposed to warm up the engines in the days leading up to the final party, such as the welcome banquet, product testing and even two parallel sporting events: the IRONKIDS, a race for the little ones and the novelty of IRONGIRL designed especially for women. Both tests are disputed on Saturday on the seafront of the city.

With all these ingredients, IRONMAN Barcelona will start on Sunday at the 8: 30am with the departure of the professionals and seven minutes later for the age groups with the novelty of the launch that offers greater safety to the triathletes and reduces the possibilities of drafting in the first kilometers of the proof.

In male category, the presence of Albert Moreno. The Catalan has declared at the press conference this afternoon that he wanted to debut at home so he has chosen the Barcelona event. Rivals of the Igualada will be the Australian Chris Mc Donald, the German ADriege areas or the Slovenian David Pliese.

Regarding females, Anna Rovira will be the only Spanish representative and, although she confessed not to arrive at her best, the Catalan will undoubtedly try to be close to the first positions in which a fight between Vanessa Raw is foreseen, Eimear Mulleno Natascha Badman among others.
