35.000 runners will be at the EDP Rock n'roll Maratón de Madrid

The EDP Rock n'roll Marathon in Madrid will count on this Sunday, with the participation of 35.503 people, from 124 countries, among the three races that are held and where the female increase stands out, with 30% of the total.

The I practice sport website reports that there will be about 7.000 participants in the 10 kilometers, while 17.000 will do so in the Half Marathon and 11.503 in the Marathon. Among the data provided during the presentation of the race, it stands out that although 70% of the participants, taking into account the three tests, are male, in the 10K, there is 50% between women and men. In the Half Marathon, the women who will take the start reaches 33%.

As for the favorites, the Eritrean Samuel Tsegay (2h.07.28) and the Kenyan Valentine Kipketer (2h.23.02) stand out from all those who will start. And it is that both in the male and female category, the favorites will once again be the African athletes. In men, the references to follow will be Eritrean Samuel Tsegay (2.07.28) and the Kenyans Ronald Korir (2.07.29) and Julius Tuwei (2.08.06)

Among women, the best brand is for the Kenyan Kipketer, accredited with 2.23.02, followed by Ethiopians Bethelhem Moges (2.24.29) and Aheza Kiros (2.24.30). The best Spanish in registry is Paula González (2.28.54), who returns to the competition after his physical problems.

In the half marathon test, there are two of the largest in the Spanish fund. Carles Castillejo (1.01.18) and Javi Guerra (1.01.38), which continues with its preparation for the European Championship in Berlin, in the Marathon event.

Change of route

For this edition, as a novelty is the change of route, in particular, the arrival area what will be in the square of Neptune instead of the Retiro Park, as in previous editions. A fact, said Javier Odriozola, general director of Sports of the Madrid City Council, that "it will not prevent it from continuing to be a unique sports festival in a city that will be screened internationally."

The presentation also served for the organization to deliver part of the funds raised with the solidarity inscriptions to the Also Foundation (4.500 euros) that promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities through sport and to BUSF (10.000 euros) for its humanitarian cooperation projects for development.

Several awards were also presented to different entities and personalities for the support to place this test "in the elite of world races." Among them, EDP, Grupo Cope, BUSF, the athlete Arturo Casado and Jesús Juárez were distinguished.
