650 triathletes will participate in the fourth race of the TriWhite 2016 this Sunday in Alicante

The Playa del Postiguet, one of the symbols of the circuit and the city, hosts the fourth event of the competition, in which more than 650 triathletes of clubs from all over Spain will participate, with the aim of becoming a monumental triathlon stadium for sportsmen and amateurs.

After two months of rest, the TriWhite Cup, the most important and popular triathlon circuit in the Mediterranean with venues in three autonomous communities (Comunidad Valenciana, Región de Murcia and Andalucía), returns this Sunday with renewed energy to celebrate one of its emblematic events in Alicante.

In addition to the presence of the vast majority of clubs in the province of Alicante will also participate in the fourth race of the TriWhite sports entities in Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Asturias, Castilla-León and Madrid, since the undoubted attractiveness of the test and the environment in which it is disputed joins the framework of the city of Alicante, ideal to combine sports practice with tourism.

Alicante marks the turning point of a circuit that has already reached its equator, so that this test will start to define the classification in each of its categories. So far, the Olympic distance is dominated by an iron fist Carlos Ferrando, from the University of Alicante, and Ana Belén Maruny, of the Alicante Arena, with two victories. The fight in Sprint is more open this season, with victories spread among several triathletes. Not so in Super Sprint, the distance in which the future promises of triathlon, where Luis Santos, Adesavi San Vicente, imposes its law after winning in Benidorm, Pilar de la Horadada and Torrevieja, the three venues disputed.

The Postiguet, cradle of the TriWhite Cup, always offers unforgettable images in the history of the circuit, such as those experienced last year with the exhibition of the veteran Mateo Pesquer in the Olympic distance or the victories of Jesús Gomar and Miriam López in Sprint, in a proof that decided the autonomous title of the Valencian Community.

The date of the test, in the final stretch of the summer, the weather and the stage guarantee a great participation and an enormous repercussion for the competition, which can be followed by the fans from different points of the city. The test will have its nerve center in front of Postiguet beach.

The swimming sector, with a triangular route for the Olympic distance, will be held in open waters, in the spectacular surroundings offered by the beach; the one of cycling in a parallel circuit to the sea that will cross part of the stroll of the beach and the highway of the quarry (eight returns, to the style World Triatlon Series for the Olympic distance); and the race on foot will run practically along this same route. The transition zone for the triathletes will be located in the parking lot of El Postiguet beach.

The start of the Olympic triathlon (1.500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running) will take place at 8.00 am. Two and a half hours later, the Sprint test will begin (750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running). At 12.00 the second Super Sprint start will take place (300 meters of swimming, 10 kilometers of bicycle and 2,5 kilometers of running). The trophy ceremony is scheduled for 13.00:XNUMX p.m. on the beach promenade.

For Fermín Egido, director of the White group, organizer of the event, the meeting in Alicante has as a challenge "Overcoming the sporting and social impact of the past year"And said that the competition will generate hundreds of overnight stays of triathletes in the city, as he recalled that athletes often take advantage of this type of sports tourism events to travel with their families. "It will be a show for the triathletes and an added attraction for the thousands of tourists that are enjoying the city and the beach that day", Says Egido.

The test can be followed live on social networks through the hashtag #TriwhiteLIVE. Alicante is the fourth stage of a circuit that is dismissed for this season of the Valencian Community to face its last two events in Almeria and Murcia:
