Eight Spaniards in the Cagliari World Cup. Jonathan Brownlee returns to the competition.

After the hard and exciting test of Madrid last Sunday, the ITU Triathlon World Cup returns this coming weekend in another of the toughest races on the calendar, Cagliari in Italy, which will be held under sprint distance.

The test consists of 750m in the Mediterranean Sea next to the port of Cagliari, then 20km hard cycling (five laps of 4km) with a slope of 600m at an average of 7% on each lap, to finish with 5km on Via Roma, parallel to the port.

In the male category four Spaniards compete, David Castro, Antonio Serrat, Uxío Abuín y Genis Grau. The main favorite to victory is the double Olympic medalist Jonathan Brownlee, and the rest of the candidates for the podium fight are the South African Henri Shoenman, the danes Andres Schilling and American Kevin Mcdowell

In the female category there will also be four national representatives: Camila Alonso, Carmen Gomez, Ines Santiango y Anna Godoy. The main favorites are the Czech Vendula Frintova, the American Kirsten Kasper, the Switzerland Jolanda Annen and the South African Gilian Sandres.

The girls will be the first to compete, to the 10: 30 while the boys will do it two hours later, to the 12: 30.

Iberdrola FETRI project

Finally, it should be noted that this will be a very important competition for the four Spanish representatives since according to the Iberdrola Project of the FETRI the best Spanish in the World Cup of Cagliari and get a top8 will have place for the Canadian WTS of Edmonton and Montreal, which will be held at the end of July and the beginning of August respectively
