Germany will punish the doped with up to 3 years of imprisonment.

According to the website thewangconnection, Germany will punish those convicted of doping with prison. The anti-doping law, that is being promoted by the government of that country, and has come into force this week will punish athletes who use prohibited substances to increase performance with up to three years in prison,

 The new legislation also imposes penalties of up to 10 years of imprisonment for the organizers of doping schemes or for people who deal with these products.

"Thanks to this law we will be able to fight much better the doping in our sport, as well as the criminal structures that allow it", affirms Thomas de Maiziere, German Interior Minister, according to the German press agency.

This law lists doping for the first time as a criminal act and will affect 7.000 athletes professionals. The new legislation will also punish the possession of small quantities of prohibited products.
