Interview with Álvaro Rancé coach of Judith Corachan, Anna Godoy and Victor del Corral

We continue with our special coaches, to recognize the great work that these professionals do with the best elite triathletes in our country. Today we present to you Álvaro Rancé.

Good morning Álvaro, how were your beginnings in triathlon as a coach?

I started towards the 1999 year with which Joan Jonama was my coach at the time, we started a training group together, then I started working individually.

Where is the place where you work?

I work in a particular way, I have my training platform and as a group I have the training of the club where I live, Triathlon Puigcerda-Cerdanya.

Could you name some trainer or coaches with whom you have trained, learned and worked together?

Learning I think you learn from everyone, it's important, I think I've learned more from the mistakes I've made with some athletes, so I think that the ones who taught me the most are the athletes themselves indirectly. I consider Iván Muñoz and Ciro Tobar important trainers in the national triathlon world. There are many more but they are people I think they can learn from.

Who are the main triathletes you are leading?

The elite level athletes I work with right now are, Victor Del Corral, Anna Godoy, Judith Carochan and Eva Wutti, the only one I worked with before is Judith. In reality, it is also true that those who are not elite are often the ones who make you think more and evolve because adapting their day to day is not easy at all.

Could you highlight some quality of each of them?

Everyone has an impressive ability to assimilate training, but the one that would stand out the most would be the determination they have to reach the maximum possible level: The head.

As a coach What are your goals for next season? And those of your triathletes?

Mine are to be able to do my job as well as possible and that the athletes I help reach the maximum and can extend their sporting life as much as they can and performing at a high level (difficult). Right now there are two of the elite with whom I started that have been very injured from last season and the main objective is that they can return to train normally. But it is clear that in the end what is sought in them is that they win races.

Could you tell us some rabbits for the boys and girls who start working as trainers?

Study, read, ask other coaches, try things they think will work and if they are wrong that they know how to see and rectify, in reality all this you can never stop doing, but for me the most important is to ask other professionals , I think it would be good in Spain and the world of triathlon to have trainers clinics to share doubts and knowledge.

Sometimes it will be difficult to find a clear answer about what is being asked, but it will help you to order your own ideas. It is also important to know what sources of information are useful today, the internet can do a lot of damage.

And also, for the triathletes who start in our sport ...

Let them begin little by little, do not be in a hurry to learn the technique of the different disciplines and look for a coach that can guide them, in the end everything is easier if you start well from the beginning.
