Anna Godoy, silver at the Mediterranean Games of Pescara Beach

Great performance of the two Spanish representatives in the aquathlon test of the 1st edition of the Mediterranean Games from Pescara Beach. Two highly contested competitions in which Anna Godoy has reaped the silver medal, while Lucas Mola has achieved an outstanding fourth place.

The recent runner-up of Spain of absolute triathlon, it went out by all from the first measures of the initial stretch of race on foot, showing itself defiant in the first squares of an explosive race. Completed the first sector, the 1000 m of swimming began to mark the differences, with Godoy well established in the first positions.

Having reached the last third, the fight for the title was frantic in the front and in a dizzying final sprint, the Spanish was staying at the gates of gold, with the Italian Sara Papais beating Godoy by a hundredths of a second, taking the victory . A formidable Anna Godoy hung the silver medal, while the Italian Elisa Marcon also climbed to the third step of the podium.

The excitement was also served in the men's competition, with the Spanish representative, Lucas Mola qualifying in fourth position, very close to third place. Mola held a very regular competition during the 2,5 km of running, 1 km of swimming and 2,5 km at the end of the race. While the local triathlete Gianluca Pozzatti dominated in the head, the fight was centered around the remaining podium places, with the Italian Riccardo De Palma also consolidating in the second place leaving open the fight for the third metal among a small group.

Everything would be resolved in the last stretch of the race, with Pozzatti advancing comfortably towards victory, followed in second position, and more than 40 seconds, by De Palma. Along with the Italian duo, and after a hard-fought final, the French Dylan Magnien would take the bronze medal. While the Balearic Mola reached a remarkable fourth place.
