Antonio Benito and Joselyn Brea record at Valencia Triathlon

A total of 1600 athletes competed throughout the day of Sunday in the spectacular Royal Marina of Valencia

Nice fight this Sunday 11 September to win a competition that distributed 12000 € among the winners and that attracted first level triathletes to Valencia Triathlon.

Both tests were decided in the last race segment on foot, with a significant number of triathletes in the fight for the men's title and three triathletes in the fight for women's competition.

At 7.30 in the morning, the almost 200 triathletes that made up the first men's start of this Olympic Triathlon were at the start of the competition in which a priori it seemed was going to be a fight between the 6 favorite triathletes. Víctor Benages from CT Huracán Hammer was in the lead from the first strokes, although he did not escape at any time alone and was accompanied by a group throughout the segment formed by Antonio Benito, Emilio Aguayo, Alejandro Cañas, Alberto Parrilla, and Roberto Sánchez Mantecón.

The six triathletes arrived at the T1 and left forming a platoon in the cycling segment, in which it seems that there was collaboration opening a gap with respect to the second group, in which dangerous men like Ramón Ejeda marched. The group made the T2 and after this they went running in the lead Antonio Benito y Roberto Sánchez Mantecón.

The Valencian triathlete who is currently part of the club of the University of Alicante tried to leave Antonio making several attacks, but the solid athlete of the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial endured and finally managed to make a final sprint that gave him the victory over Mantecón and the record of the test with a time of 1 hour 52 minutes and 23 seconds.

Behind, Víctor Benages got the third place on the podium doing an excellent solo race but followed closely by Alejandro Cañas, Arcade Inforhouse Santiago who was fourth. The Valencian also Emilio Aguayo of the CDM Avant Moncada Triatlo i Paratriatlo was fifth getting the last of the male economic prizes.

Female test

Joselyn Brea winner of the Valencia Triathlon

In the women's test it was Sara Pérez who took the advantage in the swimming segment by making an aggressive bike in the lead and leaving the T2 with more than 3 minutes ahead of her most direct rivals, Joselyn Brea y Anna Godoy. Sara Pérez, from the X3M club, maintained the lead until the second round of the running race, but Joselyn's excellent career made her take the first position, winning this Valencia Triathlon in 2 hours 8 minutes and 8 seconds, also a record for the women's event . Sara Perez he came second and Anna Godoy of the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial third, declaring both that it had been very hard for them to carry out the race segment due to the high temperatures.

The first Valencian to cross the finish line was Miriam Muñoz, the triathlete of the CT Laboratorio SyS, winner of the two previous editions; fourth classified and satisfied with the result, since the athletic level of the triathletes on the podium is currently unattainable for her. Quinta was the young Noelia Juan from the Club CEA Bétera being the last of the economically awarded in this Valencia Triathlon.

In clubs the sum of the times of the eight best boys and the four best girls who scored gave the male and female victory to CT Laboratorio SyS; that won 2800 € in these two awards, second were the guys from the CDM Avant Moncada Triatlo i Paratriatló getting 800 € for their team and third the CT Huracán Hammer, whose prize was 400 €. In females, the girls from CEA Bétera also won the 800 € and the Triathlon Claveria from Madrid, whose prize of 400 € they took with incredible satisfaction.

The most numerous club award went to the CDM Avant Moncada Triatló i Paratriatló.
