The 9 of September celebrates the second edition of Azores Triathlon, a medium distance competition that takes place on Terceira Island in the archipelago of the Azores.

All the  Azores are a set of nine islands belonging to Portugal which are located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 1.500 km from Lisbon. The origin of the islands is volcanic (like the Canary Islands) and in them numerous volcanic craters and cones can be seen. The Azores Islands are also called the "Hawaii of Europe" and it is easy to see why. The chain of nine idyllic Portuguese islands is separated from its continent by a wide expanse of ocean, and the pyramid-shaped mountains, enveloped in lush vegetation, are testimony to a similar volcanic origin.

El triathlon of the Azores is disputed in the Isla Terceira (Azores), whose name was given to be the third island to be discovered. It has an area of just under 400 km2 (approximately half of the island of Lanzarote). It is also known as "the lila island" and is one of the two gateways to the Azores and is the second most populated of the islands, with a population close to the 57.000 inhabitants.

Beaches da Victory is the epicenter of Azores Triathlon and has fantastic conditions for holding the event, being one of the most modern cities of the Azores. Located in a large bay on the east coast, this beautiful city has a long and attractive sandy beach, an elegant marina, a nice shopping area for pedestrians and a very pleasant environment.
