The City Council of Madrid publishes the 130 Urban races calendar for 2016

Subscribing liability insurance, submitting applications three months in advance, recommending a maximum price of 9 euros per runner, or having the tests run on Sundays and holidays, at 9 in the morning, are some of the recommendations and requirements agreed with the organizers

Madrid is a dynamic and active city that will welcome in its streets in 2016 A total of 130 races of all kinds, organized with a wide variety of causes and objectives, in addition to purely sporting ones, as can be seen from the provisional calendar of tests prepared by the Madrid City Council for 2016 and published on its website

The development of a calendar of tests is a novelty in this city and has been done with the participation of the organizers who have been consulted to agree dates, as well as to agree on the proposal of recommendations and general requirements.

The objective of all this is to preserve the rights of the runners and achieve the optimal management of the city, reducing the inconvenience to other citizens involved in distributing 130 events between 52 weekends, in addition to some holidays.

The recommendations and requirements that are attached to the calendar also include the criteria transferred by the Districts and the municipal services (Municipal Police, Mobility, Cleaning, and other services such as fences)

In summary, it is recommended that the tests be held preferably on Sundays or holidays in the morning, and that if your organization forces you to carry out traffic cuts, as a general rule they should start at 9 am and night races will not be authorized for safety reasons.

It is also indicated, that it will be a necessary requirement for the corresponding authorization, the subscription of a liability insurance and following in the chapter of recommendations, it is proposed for the races of 10 kilometers, a maximum price of registration of 9 euros, understanding that for the rest of distances the prices will be proportional.

In addition, organizers are advised that applications must be submitted three months in advance of the race, offering the email address [email protected]  of the General Directorate of Sports, the body in charge of this project and which is made available to all interested parties to obtain more information and thus facilitate the organization of tests and sporting events in the city.

Finally, we must highlight the good reception of the proposal that was presented three months ago, by organizers, brokers, sponsoring entities and all other agencies and affected people, unanimously accepting their benefits and the need that existed to conveniently organize the great proliferation of sporting events in the urban road emerged in recent years in the city.
