Official calendar 2016 ITU World Cup

The International Triathlon Federation (ITU) has published the official calendar of World Cup and Paratriathlon events for the 2016

 

 

2016 World Cups Calendar

12-13 March: Mooloolaba, Australia
2-3 April 2-3: New Plymouth, New Zealand
16-17 April: Chengdu, China
7-8 May: Huatulco, Mexico 
18-19 June: Kitzbuhel, Austria 
9-10 July: Tiszaujvaros, Hungary 
6-7 August: Montreal, Canada 
24-25 September: Salinas, Ecuador 
22-23 October: Tongyeong, Korea
29-30 October: Miyazaki, Japan

The 2016 World Cup season will open in mid-March in Mooloolaba, where it will host a World Cup for the tenth time. Immediately after, there will be another stop in Oceania, exactly in New Plymouth. Both races will have sprint distance.

The city of Chengdu, China, returns for the third time and offers the first Olympic distance competition of the year. Then it will go to Huatulco, Mexico. A new World Cup is being considered for the same weekend in Europe.

Ktizbuhel, Austria returns to the ITU calendar in June. Tiszaujvaros, legendary stop in the organization of World Cups, will again offer a semi final / final format in its twentieth year on the ITU calendar.

The circuit will also reach the American continent where Montreal debuts on the World Cup calendar, followed by Salinas, Ecuador, which also debuts as the venue for the World Cup.

The last two races of the World Cup will take place in Asia with the return of Tongyeong, penultimate edition of the 2016 calendar, and Miyazaki, final stop in October. In addition to Mooloolaba and New Plymouth, Montreal, Salinas and Tongyeong will be sprint distance.

ITU has also confirmed the dates for the 2016 Paratriathlon calendar.

19-20 March: Buffalo City, South Africa
23-24 April: Perth, Australia
14-15 May: Yokohama, Japan (next to the ITU Triathlon World Series) 
14-15 may: Águilas, Spain
4-5 June: Besancon, France
4-5 June: Strathclyde, Great Britain
25-26 June: Iseo, Italy

The Paratriathlon World Championship will take place in conjunction with the World Triathlon Series, while it is being debated whether the MP race will take place in the Gold Coast. Strathclyde is the only city that makes its debut in the EMP calendar.

Paratriathletes will earn Paralympic qualification points in the Yokohama and Eagles editions on their way to qualifying for the Rio 2016 Games, in which the Paratriathlon will make its debut.
