Calendar World Series 2019 Triathlon

ITU has today published the official calendar of the Triathlon World Series where Europe will have 3 venues with an unprecedented grand final in Lausanne (Switzerland)

 The circuit, which meets 11 years, will have seven WTS races before the Grand Final in Lausanne, where we will have an action packed season, with the World Triathlon Mixed Relay Series and the Paratriathlon World Series that will increase the number of events in 2019.

Lausanne, new headquarters in the Grand Final

Bermuda joined this 2018 and for the 2019 it will be up to Lausanne to show the world of triathlon.

"Triathlon is constantly evolving and growing, and it is important that we can take our biggest events to new audiences“, said ITU President and IOC member, Marisol Casado. “With every new venue, everyone, from athletes and coaches to LOC and officials, learn and adapt, and that's healthy for our sport. At the same time, we are happy to return to emblematic places like Leeds and Hamburg. We look forward to another exciting year for WTS during this Olympic qualifying cycle ".

Everything will start as usual in Abu Dhabi From there, the action will be transferred to Bermuda at the end of April, where the athletes will fight for the second time against the infamous Corkscrew Hill.

The next stop will be in Japan for one of the fixed races in the circuit, Yokohama, before the focus moves to Europe and the fourth edition of the race in Leeds. Then it will be the turn to compete in the beautiful city of Montreal (Glen). The calendar diamond is Hamburg, where hundreds of thousands of spectators roam the streets every year. The last stop before the Grand Final is the iconic event in the city of Edmonton in Hawrelak Park.

The grand finale of 2019 will take place in the impressive Swiss city of Lausanne. Thousands of amateur triathletes from around the world will gather to compete in a city rich in sports culture, home of the Olympic movement that makes it an ideal place for the Grand Final, along with the Junior, Sub23 and Paratriathlon World Championships.

Mixed Relay

At 2018, ITU launched the Series of mixed relays Word Triathlon where they earn points to qualify for the debut of this exciting discipline at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

After the great success and the warm welcome of the athletes, teams and spectators, the road continues in 2019 with the stops of the World Series of Mixed Triathlon Relays that will be announced later
