Andrés Carnevali and Beatriz Jiménez take victory in the Calima Desafío Posadas

Like every summer at this time, the Guadalquivir Valley becomes one of the areas with the highest temperatures in Spain.

Well, despite the fact that the mercury far exceeds the 40 degrees, there are some brave who defy the heat and undertake an adventure that is only for the chosen ones: swimming, cycling and running. They are the participants of Triathlon Iron Caliphs and Calima Challenge Posadas.

This Cordovan town has been launched to the street, as in the previous editions 26, to try with the encouragement of hundreds of people, that these high temperatures are more bearable among the nearly one thousand registered in this double triathlon event, in category sprint and in medium distance.

This last one, a very hard test in itself, but that at this point of the year is even more, it has been taken in the masculine category Andrés Carnevali, ahead of Ramón Valles and Emilio J. López. The winner was already a leader since the swim, increasing their differences in the 90 kilometers of the bike and the 21 running. In goal, a time of 4h23'24 '', with more than 10 minutes of advantage over the second. In the female category, the malagueña Beatriz Jiménez has revalidated the triumph achieved last year, being accompanied on the podium by Nerea Etxeberría and Mari Cruz Palma. Jimenez was the best in swimming and cycling, and already in the race on foot would have a mattress large enough to relax. He reached the finish line with a time of 5h04'51 '', having a margin of 7 minutes with respect to the second.

Meanwhile, in the Triathlon Iron Caliphs (sprint distance), the victory has taken it Ignacio González. The water would come out in first position, with 3 seconds ahead of Camilo Puertas. Next, Germán Rodríguez and Victoriano Raso, among others. A difference that would extend up to the 5 seconds in the bicycle sector. Samer Ali-Saad and Camilo Puertas followed closely the wheel of the young Malaga, but they could not cut the distance in the race on foot. There, González would progressively increase the gap, until reaching the finish line with a time of 59: 53, 27 seconds ahead of Samer Ali-Saad and 43 of Camilo Puertas.

In the female category, the triumph took it, like last year, Rocío Molas. Of the water the Sevillian came out with 20 seconds of disadvantage with respect to the leader at that time, Irene Cabrera. But he managed to turn the situation around, to take the lead in a good sector by bike and reach the finish line with a time of 1h20'18 '' ahead of Natalia Fischer and Irene Cabrera.
