Carolina Routier 8ª in the WC of Cagliari and great step towards the Rio JJOO

Victory for the British Inda Lee and 8ª position for a sensational Carolina Routier in an epic race.

Cold and rainy day in Cagliari, which opens in the calendar as World CupIt is also the first and only European competition that awards points for the Olympic ranking in 2016.

The "Triarmada"Female was represented by 4 components: Carolina Routier and the debutantes in WC Camila Alonso, Cecilia Santamaria and Sara Guerrero (the last two still in junior age). The test was sprint distance, 750m of swimming, 18km of cycling, divided in 4 laps of 4,5km to a hard circuit that included a climb of 1km to 6% and then 5km of running to finish.

At the 10: 30 started the race, and as usual, the best ITU swimmer, Carolina Routier started with a strong pace with the intention of selecting the swim from the first strokes ... and she got it, Carol was the first in the T1 followed by the Dutch Maya Kingma, after them to 15 "a quartet with Frintova, Zapatrina, Dodet and Taylor-Brown. The rest of the Spaniards did it in the position 23 Cecilia to 37 '' of the leader and to 1 'Camila and Sara.

The hard cycling circuit, added to the bad weather, made this segment a survival race, with the triathletes very fragmented in small groups. At times it seemed that we were in the 90 decade when there was no drafting in ITU tests

The British broke the competition, the first to reach the T2 was India Lee alone, and after her more than 45 '' a group of 7, commanded by the German Sieburger and Autriaca Perter. To 15 '' of this group came a trio with Routier, Jenkins and Norden ... and after them a rosary of triathletes almost individually

Victory for Inda Lee that manages the advantage well on foot, second Sieburger and third Perter. The Catalan Carolina Routier He finished in a magnificent 8 position, fighting hard until the end.

Meanwhile Cecilia Santamaria came the 28ª to 4'56 '' of the leader and Camila Alonso the 36ª to more than 7 '. Finally, we are without news of Sara Guerrero, that we believe has not been able to finish. Cheers for her! (ITU photos)
