The winner of the women's event was the Australian Natalie Kristen, which left the feet of Carol after the swim segment and which rolled away along with the Catalan triathlete during the 20 kilometers of the cycling section. Later in the race on foot, Kristen escaped shortly after leaving the pits maintaining the advantage until achieving the final victory.

Uxío Abuín Champion of Spain

Next the male elite event was contested, with many favorites ready to get the national Sprint distance title. With the 1 bib left David Castro, who could not revalidate the title of champion of Spain after suffering an accident in the cycling segment that did not stop him from finishing the test but dismissed him from the front posts.

The race was very fast from the swim, and in a different way to what happened in the women's event, it was not until the second lap on foot when the podium positions were cleared. In fact after the cycling segment, a very large group of over 20 triathletes was facing the last 5 kilometers of the race on foot with everything to decide. Little by little the group was losing members, until three triathletes faced the last meters to fight for the gold, being only two of them Spanish, the Galician Uxío Abuín and the Valencian Roberto Sánchez. The third guest in discord was the Uzbek Petsov, ultimately the winner of the test.

Finally, Galician Uxío Ubuín (CO de Vedra) again proved to have some demolishing final meters in the partial on foot, achieving the title of champion of Spain. While the silver medal was for Roberto Sánchez, and the bronze Francesc Godoy, who signed a great comeback.
