Join the "Popular Race with Javier Gómez Noya", Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, in Avilés

Next Friday 21 of October will be celebrated the ceremony of delivery of the Princess of Asturias Awards 2016, a date designated for the Spanish triathlon and especially for Javier Gómez Noya, awarded in this edition with the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports.

 

Javier Goméz Noya it has a unique sports record: five-time World Champion, Olympic runner-up, four-time winner of the European Triathlon Championship, it has countless national and international podiums. A world-class athlete who sees a prolific career rewarded, and who in his own right will become one of the stars of the evening on October 21.

Precisely and with the aim of celebrating this award with the Spanish triathlete, next Saturday October 22, Avilés will receive the "Popular Race with Javier Gómez Noya", with a format that will combine a cycling route and a section of foot race in the Vicinity of the Asturian municipality hosting the successful Duathlon World Championship last June. In this way, starting at 11:00 a.m., a small group of professional athletes, including Javier Gómez Noya, will make a first symbolic bike ride of 7.860 meters, which will end in a transition area near the point starting point located on Calle de la Cámara, giving way to a popular 3.360-meter foot race, in which 2.500 people are expected to participate.

The march will be led by the group led by Gómez Noya. This non-competitive event will end at the Plaza de España (El Parche), where there will be a stage to pay homage to Gómez Noya. The act is promoted by the Princess of Asturias Foundation, the City Council of Avilés and the Spanish Triathlon Federation and is part of the program of cultural events that will be held with the winners during the week of the 2016 Princess of Asturias Awards.
