Castellón Triathlon successfully opens the Mediterranean Triathlon circuit.

More than 550 participants have competed in this new venue competing in different modalities, Olympic, sprint, super sprint and women's triathlon.

The Grao of Castellón It was the place chosen to celebrate the first circutio test Mediterranean Triathlon, a multi-test triathlon that started early this Sunday. The Olympic distance has been responsible for opening the day of competition.

All participants had to complete 1.500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers running. In addition, the federated in the Valencian Community fought for the regional title.

At the 8 in the morning and after completing a swim segment, in which the state of the sea endowed it with greater hardness, it was placed at the head of the masculine test David Martínez, Fernando Santander and Alejandro Nacher. In females Sonia Ruiz first came out of the water followed by Eliana Sotelo.

During the cycle segment Fernando Santander was at the head of the race, riding very fast and getting off the bike, after giving four laps to the circuit, about two minutes apart from the pursuer group, which were Alberto Romero , Francisco Ramírez, Agustín Gómez and Miguel Risco. All of them got off in the second transition and started to run, to try to hunt down Fernando.

In girls, Sonia Ruiz did the entire cycling segment alone, followed by Eliana who also did the same and they went down to run a few minutes apart from their pursuers.

After a hard race on foot, especially for the temperatures that were already reached at that time of the morning, Alberto Romero, of the CDM-ECL Avant Moncada, was proclaimed winner of Castellón Triathlon and Autonomic Champion (01: 53: 06). In second position, and after a great race, arrived Miguel Risco, from the CT Arena Alicante (01: 54: 12). Finally, the third box of the podium was for Agustín Gómez, of the Betraining Activa Club (01: 55: 09).

In females and after dominating the race from start to finish was proclaimed winner of the event and Regional Champion, Sonia Ruiz, from the club Trivila (02: 16: 17). In the second place the triathlete of the SD Correcaminos arrived, María Luisa Guillen (02: 16: 26). The triathlete of the mad club Triathlon Castellón has climbed to the third box of the podium, Julia Hofer (02: 18: 17)

Sprint Triathlon

At the 9: 45 the more than two hundred entered in sprint mode were preparing to take the start. The federated boys were thrown first to the water, being the women the ones in charge to close the batches of exits of this modality.

At the end of the swim segment Pedro Fernández and Sandra Gans dominated the competition. After the 750 meters swimming, two laps were waiting for the cycling circuit to complete the 20 kilometers of this modality.

After cycling the head of the women's race was maintained with Sandra Gans in first position, but during cycling in boys there had been changes and it was Juanjo Alcaraz who dominated this second segment and got off the bike in the lead.

Finally, and after completing two laps to the race circuit on foot Jorge Serra, of the CT Laboratory SYS, is proclaimed winner of the sprint modality (59: 48). In second position he entered the goal Pedro Fernandez, of the CDE Triathlon San Sebastián de los Reyes (01: 00: 04). The third place has been for Miguel Soria (01: 04: 43).

In girls, dominating the competition from start to finish, it is proclaimed winner of the Castellón Triathlon in sprint mode Sandra Gans, CT Hurricane Cultbikes (01: 08: 24). In second position has entered Laura Martínez (01: 16: 22). Third came to goal Liliana Castelló, from the Sanus Vitae Team (01: 18: 11).

Super sprint triathlon and women's triathlon. 

The last to take the start, and who have been responsible for closing the competition have been the men and women of the triathlon super sprint and triathlon of women. All of them would have to complete 350 meters of swimming, 9,6 kilometers of cycling and 2,5 kilometers of running. This modality is of all the most accessible for all those who wish to start in the world of triathlon.

In the male super sprint the winner has been Miguel Lorente, of CEA Bétera (33: 01). Second came Daniel Sales, from CT Evasion Castellón (33: 33). In third position has entered the goal Rubén Fuente, of the CT Arena Alicante (36: 43).

At Women's Triathlon the winner has been Alicia Crespo (41: 28). In second place has reached the goal Inés Balaguer, from CT Evasion Castellón (43: 45). The third place has been for Noelia Guillén, of the Teruel Swimming Club (48: 02)

With these two modalities a great day of competition was ended, in which level triathletes were mixed with popular triathletes, enjoying together this incredible sport that is triathlon.

In the month of September returns Mediterranean Triathlon the 7, 8 and 9 of September with Valencia Triathlon, in which we can also enjoy the European Cup of Triathlon. And we will finish this circuit with the 29 and 30 of September in Alicante Triathlon.
