Chema Martínez will participate in the Half Menorca Triathlon

The next 20 of September of 2015 will be held a new edition of this triathlon.

 

The Madrilenian Chema Martínez, one of the best fondistas in the history of Spanish athletics, has announced on social networks that participate in the first edition of the Half Menorca Triathlon.

In his palmares stand out the two medals obtained in 10000 meters in the European Championships of 2002 (gold) and 2006 (silver) held in Munich and Gothenburg respectively, in addition to many other titles in different races. As far as training is concerned, he has a degree in INEF, a master's degree in Management in Sports Administration and Management from the COE and a post-graduate course in addition to a master's degree in Golf Course Management at the European University of Madrid.

The RdP also had the presence of Mr. LLuis Arjona, sports councilor of Es Mecadal, who commented on the illusion that Fornells has in welcoming again this spectacular event, such as the Media Distancia triathlon. Mr. Juanjo Pons, Councilor for Sports of the Insular Council of Menorca, highlighted Menorca as a sports tourism destination. On his turn, Mr. Mito Bosh, Director of Elite Chip (a local company that produces Half Menorca) detailed the technical part of the test, noting that in addition to Half, as it was done last year, this event will have the distance Short (half of the half).

The Brand Manager of Half Menorca, Mr. Juanan Fernández, took the opportunity to assess the strategy of this event, wanting to offer quality vs. quantity since they are limited to 750 places. Of these, more than 400 are visitors from outside the island and some foreign 60. Another objective is to try to convey to customers the unforgettable experience they will experience in Menorca, for that reason the contribution of a person like Chema Martinez who will be the promoter and ambassador of this edition, from his hand we will be able to sell experiences. Mr. Francisco Ametller, Mayor of Es Mercadal, closed the ceremony by thanking all those present and remembering that Fornells is honored to have an event of this nature and that no one doubts that the entire population will turn once again to the 200% in Your support for Half Menorca.

Menorca will host the Half Menorca Triathlon on the weekend of September 19 and 20. With the aim of exceeding 700 triathletes, the competition is presented as a great end to party to a season in which triathlon continues to grow in both demand and supply. Half Menorca has the support of the leading brands in its sector such as Compressport - Rudy - TomTom  who, as sponsors, have watched over the needs of the triathletes, in their commitment to endurance competitions.

One more year, the Menorcan town of Fornells will be the nerve center of this medium distance triathlon (1.900 meters of swimming / 90 km of cycling / 21 km of running) where Chema Martinez starts as a guest star and great attraction of the event. In addition, in this 2015, the test includes the short (1.000 meters of swimming / 40 km of cycling / 8 km of running on foot) in its programming and a fun run on Saturday morning with the invited athlete, Chema Martinez, for to be able to know better the section on foot of the hand of an athlete with great palamarés, that has been champion of Europe.

From Saturday morning, athletes will be able to get closer to pick up the numbers, as well as visit the expo area. There will also be a press conference prior to the competition, the briefing and the entry of material in the pits. HALF Menorca will start on Sunday, 20 in September, at 07: 30 h.
