Cidade de Lugo Fluvial and Imps of Rivas Top 10 in the European Triathlon Championships by Clubs

Banyoles opened an intense day of competitions with the first edition of the European Triathlon Club Championships.

A vibrant competition in which the French team of the Poissy Triathlon has imposed itself after mastering the test from start to finish. For its part, two of the Spanish clubs, the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial and CT Devils of Rivas, have managed to qualify in the Top-10 of the general.

The competition has counted with the participation of the 18 best European clubs and has been developed on the format of mixed relays in distance supersprint (300 m of swimming, 6,6 km cycling and 1,6 km of running) for the environment of L'Estany of the Girona town. Each of the four components had to perform a triathlon before handing over the baton to their teammate.

The French side of the Poissy Triathlon, formed by Cassandre Beaugrand, Jeremy Guindos, Leonie Periault and Declan Wilson has been in the lead since the early stages with Beaugrand making a great first relief that has allowed them to be in an optimal situation to face the rest of the competition. Thus, one by one they have progressed in the front to sign a comfortable victory with a final time of 1: 23: 32.

The second place went to the Italian team of the AS Triathlon Duathlon Rimini, composed of Sara Papais, Giulio Solbati, Giorgia Priarone and Premysl Suarc. The Italians have concluded their participation to one minute and 25 seconds of the winners. While the also Italians of the AS Minerva Roma (Alessandra Tamburri, Marco Corra, Beatrice Mallozzi and Alessio Floravanti) have been awarded the bronze medal ending in 1: 25: 38.

Spain has been represented by three clubs, with the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial obtaining the ninth place. The Galician team has had Esther Rodríguez, Jaime González, Sharon García Carrera and Pablo Dapena. Then the CT Diablillos de Rivas formed by Xisca Tous, Daniel González Sanz, Ibone Sánchez Garmendia and Iván Gil has entered in 10th position. While the Alcobendas Ecosport Triathlon has classified 17th with Tania Alvárez, Yago Urrutia, Sara Caraballo and Víctor Velasco.
