Curiosities about the Ironman Lanzarote 2015

One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony was when the 4 Finishers got on the podium with more IMs from Lanzarote on their legs with 81 ironman among all

After several days after the end of the competition in "La Isla" of the Ironman we want to highlight some curiosities about the competition:

Degasperi flying over 90km / h: As we already have in the chronicle, we had the privilege of following one of the bikes of the organization Alessandro Degasperi from the Mirador del Río to Guatiza, during the descent there were moments when the winner of IM LZ'15 rolled over of 90km / h and it was impossible to follow him on a motorcycle. On the bike we saw 90km / h on the scoreboard ... but surely Degasperi would reach 100km / h.

Degasperi almost suffered a run over: In one of the roundabouts on the way to Tahiche, a van driven by an elderly man, almost sent the Italian to the roadside ... luckily everything was in a scare.

Malte Bruns: Colossal the German, was the first GGEE finishing 9º of the General, ran the marathon in 3h2m, being the 6º better time. Malte did it with a hydration pack on his back. When we arrived at the finish line we asked him why he was using that backpack and he told us why he does not know how to drink from the glasses while he runs, so it is more comfortable for him to go with the backpack. Awesome!

On the other hand during the trophy delivery dinner he great Kenneth Gasque (director of the race and father the IM Lanzarote) commented several anecdotes of the race:

El Ironman Lanzarote 2015 it has been the one that has had the hardest weather conditions ever: currents in swimming, cold, light rain, lots of wind, humidity and heat.

The British David Miles (dorsal 1501) had a fall on a bike that caused a collarbone injury (I dare not say that break) that made him end cycling by holding the handlebar with one hand ... and later, running the marathon with his arm in a sling He was one of the most outstanding heroes of the day.

A couple ran the IM together. A while before they had met at a Stage in Lanzarote, later they got married and on Saturday they made the IM together.

Request of Hand in the ironman of Lanzarote

There were 3 Finishers who asked their girlfriend's hand after crossing the finish line in Puerto del Carmen.

One of the qualifiers for Kona'15 debuted in a triathlon last Saturday at the IM Lanzarote, although they did not give us his name.

One of the most emotional moments is when the 3 Finishers got on the podium with more IMs from Lanzarote on their legs, the Italian Amedeo Bonfanti (18), Spanish Carmelo Ruiz (19) and the Dutch Albert Connaghan (20). There remains for the story the "selfie" that Carmelo made, of them three along with Kenneth Gasque.

Among the fourth add 81 Ironmans Lanzarote (57 finishers of Amedeo, Carmelo and Albert plus Kenneth's 24 as organizer and career director)
