Dani Molina, the dream of running again on video

The Paralympic triathlete, who with 22 years lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident, tells in "I want to run again" his fight to return to athletics

Although he will not go to Rio 2016 because they have eliminated his category in the Paralympic triathlon modality, he is already preparing to be champion of Spain and the World of Sprint Triathlon, European Olympic Triathlon champion and Middle European Ironman champion

Dani Molina, double runner-up of the world Paralympic triathlon and current champion of the World of Acuatlon, is an example of overcoming. One of those people who fill the sport with heroism.

The Spaniard started with only 3 years to swim, and with 4 he made his first competition. All his life dedicated to sports until with 22 years a motorcycle accident that almost cost him his life made him lose his right leg below the knee. After 14 of operations and a year of recovery, the Madrid native could walk again. He discovered that life gave him a new opportunity to do what was really important to him. "All my life I have played sports, because my parents have taught us since childhood. I was worried about not doing it again"Explains the Skechers athlete.

After the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, where he was semifinalist in 100 meters back, swimming went into the background, a hobby, but "I was looking for new challenges that motivated me," he stresses. So in 2011 they made him a prosthesis to go on a mountain bike: "The first day I only had 200 meters, but within a few weeks I was already running 5 km." But he was still dreaming of running: "I remember nights when I woke up dreaming that I was running, that I was competing. So I came to the orthopedics and I said "I want to run again" ".

And although it can not be in Rio 2016 (the Paralympic triathlon will be present for the first time in an Olympic Games, although due to lack of seats only three of the five categories of this modality will participate), Dani Molina continues with his dreams, among which find for 2016 the European Championship and the Sprint Triathlon World Championship, the European Olympic Triathlon Championship and the European Half Ironman Championship.
