David Castro vs. Nan Oliveras, the match of the year

We analyze 8 "assaults" where Nan and David have faced

During this season we have attended a spectacular "triathlon match" of two of the best promises (although already confirmed) of the Spanish triathlon. In this case, the typical hooks, jabs, crochets or direct of the boxing are changed by the three disciplines of the triathlon (swimming, cycling and running) in addition to the transitions in 8 interesting assaults where Nan and David have had their peculiar exchange of hits.

1er assault: European Cups on Spanish soil.

First it was David in the month of April who in the European Cup of Melilla obtained an 7º square. Later in May Nan finished 5º in the European Cup in Madrid

2º assault: Spanish Sprint Championship

First "melee" between David and Nan with victory for the manchego, who won the silver medal in Pontevedra for only 7 "on Oliveras who hung the bronze. Nan made a great comeback on foot by cutting more than half a minute to David ... but could not beat him.

3er assault: European Championship sub 23

Second "body to body" of Nan and David. And outcome similar to Pontevedra ... a sensational David Castro is proclaimed European champion sub 23 and Nan returns to make a great comeback on foot arriving in 4ª position

4º assault: European Championship relay mixed sub23

In this fourth round Nan and David compete together ... together with their companions Xisca Tous and Anna Godoy they manage to win the bronze medal.

David Castro

5º assault: Spanish Championship DO

Another spectacular "body to body" between the manchego and the Catalan with victory for Oliveras, who wins the Spanish Olympic Distance Championship in Altafulla (Tarragona) with all his people cheering him on. The second position is for Castro.

6º assault: World sub23

The umpteenth “train crash” of the season, David Castro and Nan Oliveras won the silver and bronze medals in the U23 World Cup. They thus joined the group of Spanish medalists in the sub23 world championships: Pilar Hilado gold in 2002, Javier Gómez Noya gold in 2003, Zuriñe Rodríguez bronze in 2003 and Fernando Alarza silver in 2012 and 2013.

Nan Oliveras

7º assault: Antalya World Cup

Sensational career of Nan who gets a great 4ª place in one of his best results of his career. David Castro does not have his day and ends in the 60 position.

8º assault: End of season, Tongyeong and Agair.

Castro finishes the season by the big door, being 2º in the world cup of Tongyeong (South Korea) in one of his best races ever. On the other hand Nan finishes 4º in the African Cup of Agair (Morocco) ... pulling epic and chaste, to compete with an old bike rented and running with shoes, not getting her suitcase on time.

Nan Oliveras and David Castro

Final conclusion:

My assessment of this "match of the year" is that I am left with the two, impossible to decide for me who is the winner. Triathlon fans have enjoyed a lot with Nan and David, next year they will continue to grow and we hope to see them shine in the WTS. Many encouragement to both!
