We interviewed David Thompson, Triathlon Internacional de Portocolom

The 9 of April of 2017 will celebrate the XX edition of the International Triathlon of Portocolom, today we interview David Thompson Manager of the company Kumulus, organizer of the test

 

Good morning David, you have already opened the registration for the XX edition of the Portocolom International Triathlon, and although there are still several months left for the next April 9, how are the people responding?

There is an excellent acceptance. Foreigners are still betting on this test to start the season. We also offer very special prices until the end of the year so that people are encouraged to sign up.

One of the characteristics that most attracts the attention of the participants are the distances, 111 and 55.5, unusual in triathlon. Why does the International Triathlon of Portocolom bet on these distances?

They are perfect distances for the start of the season and for cyclists who start in this sport in addition to being approved by the ITU.

Could you tell us a little bit about how circuits are?

Swimming takes place in a closed bay where there is no swell from the water, the cycling circuit is simply perfect and spectacular as well as demanding and the race on foot takes place facing the sea and with an incredible turning point! Our lighthouse that is only accessible to the public during the celebration of our event.

In 2017 will there be a special prize for the king and queen of the mountain on the ascent to Sant Salvador? How is this rise? From the organization do you advise any special development?

We are working on improvements and novelties for this 20th anniversary that we will reveal little by little! The climb is hard with 5km and an average difference of 10% and the development is something very personal of each one.

As prior to the big competition on Sunday 9 in April, on Saturday you will organize a TRIKIDS test so that children can also enjoy this great triathlon weekend. What will this race consist of?

It is a race in which the Portocolom Triathlon club works all year round and tries to promote the sport among the youngest ones. There are several duathlons adapted to the ages represented and it has become one of the most loved as we make them feel like adults because they use the same facilities as the Sunday test and our ambassadors accompany them.

In addition to sports competitions, could you highlight other services that you offer to the participants?

Neoprene test, cyclist circuit reconnaissance, neoprene and bike rental, cloakroom service, massage and showers.

Finally, in 2017 you celebrate the XX edition of the International Triathon of Portocolom, to date of today, can you tell us if there will be any news regarding other editions?

Of course there will be some but at the moment we will not reveal them !. You will have to be attentive ... Ha ha!
