The next November 24, the European University of Madrid will host the 10 edition of the prestigious NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TRAINING FOR RESISTANCE SPORTS, organized by Sport Training with the collaboration of the European University (EU) and the support of All In Your Mind.

This Symposium is aimed at both trainers and physical activity professionals and nutrition, as self-taught athletes who seek new resources in training to be able to put into practice.

Information about the symposium

The objectives pursued are based on bring scientific knowledge both coaches and athletes, as well as provide tools that help in the training and recycling of sports training professionals.

The content of the conferences are supported by the research. The professors, of recognized prestige, combine scientific knowledge and experience, offering us new approaches to help in the process of performance improvement.

The lectures that will be given are the following:

"OPTIMIZATION OF PERFORMANCE IN CYCLING AND TRIATHLON: AERODYNAMICS, BIOMECHANICS, POWER, PACING AND OTHER DETAILS", by D. Yago Alcalde Gordillo.

We know that to move fast on a bike it is very important to move many watts. However, as a commercial slogan said, power without control is useless: two cyclists applying the same power on the pedals can go at very different speeds depending on their aerodynamics.

In addition to the aerodynamic criterion, it is also necessary to respect certain biomechanical parameters that assure us that the cyclist's position is optimal in terms of comfort, efficiency and power production.

Another determining aspect in medium and long distance triathlon is the pacing, since the performance in the race sector will be very conditioned by the intensity of the cycling sector.

"DETERMINING FACTORS OF PERFORMANCE IN TRAIL RUNNING", by Dr. Nacho Martínez.

The Mountain Racing is a sports discipline in full growth, not only in terms of number of races and participants, but also in terms of scientific research that is addressing what are the bioenergetic and neuromuscular factors that determine success in this type of tests.

At the same time, a growing number of coaches are increasingly concerned with improving the evaluation of their runners with the aim of detecting both weak aspects that are more susceptible to improvement and monitoring during the season the parameters that are more closely related to performance. .

Given this context, this paper aims to review the latest scientific evidence on this topic and translate them into useful evaluation proposals for Trail Running coaches who work with runners of all levels.

"ANALYSIS OF THE CAREER AND MODIFICATION OF THE TECHNIQUE: AVOID INJURIES AND IMPROVE PERFORMANCE, by D. Joan Rius Sant.

The need to perform biomechanical evaluations as a preventive measure of injuries and to improve performance will be discussed. They are evaluations at the foot of track that the trainer can do with a mobile phone or high speed domestic camera.

The guidelines to do the filming as well as the points of attention when viewing the videos with the Kinovea program will be presented, emphasizing the most significant points of interest that may favor the appearance of injuries or limit the performance.

Should you always intervene to correct the possible errors detected?

When deciding to carry out a modification of the technique, it is essential to know how muscle actions and tendon tensions change. Influencing the technique implies doing it on strength and elasticity in a parallel way.

As an example, a method will be presented to carry out the process of modification of the support, from heel to sole, avoiding the danger of overloading the foot (fasciitis, tendinitis, periostitis ...).

PLANNING AND NUTRITION FOR THE LONG DISTANCE TRIATHLON ", by D. Carles Tur Carbonell.

This paper will revolve around two areas: physiology and nutrition.

First area: Scientific evidence in long-distance triathlon planning will be discussed, as well as the practical vision under the great experience throughout these years. Topics such as: volume, intensity, distribution of training, strength work, analysis and prevention.

Second area: We will talk about feeding for long distance, gastrointestinal problems and a practical methodology to try to alleviate them, as well as nutritional periodization applied to long distance triathlon.

"THE TRAINING OF THE BEST KENNIAN AND SPANISH RUNNERS D LONG DISTANCE, by Dr. Arturo Casado Alda.

The Kenyan long distance corridors represent excellence worldwide in this field and come mostly from a small region of the Rift Valley. There are many studies that have tried to prove their superiority (genetics, biomechanics, nutrition, socioeconomic aspects, altitude, training ...) and therefore, it is considered that the cause of this sporting phenomenon is multifactorial.

However, no study has tried to approach it from the perspective of the theory of deliberate practice. This theory, advocated by Ericsson, is based on the fact that differences in performance in any field (sports, academic, work ...) are determined by the quality and quantity of the practice carried out focused on improving one's performance.

Coaches and the best world long distance runners (36 Kenyans) and the best Spanish long distance runners (51 runners) were interviewed. The differences established between these two very representative sample groups have been analyzed from the perspective of deliberate practice. We will see the results of this study.

And as a final culmination, a round table with all the speakers, led by Dr. Roberto Cejuela Anta.
