The ninth edition of Doñana Challenge, competition organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will be held on Saturday 15 September 2018 in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), and since the end of last week all athletes interested in the test can already register to participate in she.

The Doñana Challenge, one of the mostharder resistance vents that are celebrated annually, is a long distance triathlon made up of three modalities: cycling, swimming and running. What differentiates it from other tests is the order and distance of the disciplines; as well as its journey through places and environments of singular beauty and sensitivity, such as the mouth of the Guadalquivir and the Doñana National Park.

The route continues after the extension carried out two years ago in the cycling segment, which went from 90 to 100 kilometers, crossing the town of Trebujena from Cadiz, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Chipiona, Rota, Jerez de la Frontera and El Puerto de Santa María.

The true uniqueness of the test is the walking segment, who runs entirely through the unspoiled beach of Doñana National Park, the largest ecological reserve in Europe and a World Heritage Site since 1994, and from which the name of this event derives.

The minimum age to compete is 20 years and there is a limit of participants, 500 athletes in the individual modality and 30 teams in the relay competition. The test is not exclusive for athletes specialized in long distance events. It is also focused on cyclists, runners or duathletes who want to participate in this extreme triathlon formula. As in the last editions, whoever registers before the July 2 will have a discount on the final price.

Doñana Challenge Sprint

Furthermore, the 12 of May will be held the second edition of Doñana Sprint Challenge, triathlon that is celebrated in sprint mode, and that extends the Doñana Challenge test at the start of the summer season and from the beaches of Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) to those of Matalascañas, in Almonte (Huelva). The distances will be 750 meters by swimming, 20 kilometers by bicycle and 5 kilometers by foot.
