Ecotrimad thanks

The Ecotrimad cycling test is neutralized at Km 56 due to a serious accident by a triathlete. The Civil Guard neutralizes the competition so that the helicopter of the SUMMA evacuates the injured. The organization praises the respect and behavior of the participants, as well as the judges.

The cyclist segment of the middle distance test of Ecotrimad is neutralized by a serious accident of a participant. At 13.40 hours approximately one of the triathletes has suffered a serious accident. Another participant, Summa doctor, has stopped to assist him and according to the Civil Guard have decided to call the 112 and request the transfer of the injured urgently by helicopter to a hospital. Thanks to the proximity of the Summa de Lozoyuela the helicopter has arrived in a few minutes.

The Civil Guard has neutralized the cycling segment 1h 20 m while the injured was stabilized and transferred to the helicopter that has landed on the road. The stop has mainly affected the participants of the Media Distance test, near 300. The vast majority of the triathletes who ran the Olympic distance test without Drafting, something more than 400, have been able to finish without any problem. Upon arrival at the pits all the triathletes have shown great respect, empathy and understanding of the situation. At the proposal of the organization and the judges, 50 participants have decided to finish the triathlon in a non-competitive 10 kms race.

They came to Buitrago de Lozoya 750 triathletes to participate in the 6ª edition of Ecotrimad in two modalities, half Ironman and Olympic without drafting. The ambient temperature has been pleasant but due to the adverse weather conditions of recent days, the judges have decided to suspend the swim segment as the water temperature is at 12 degrees one hour before starting the test. Swimming has been replaced by a race of 6 kms.

The organizers of Ecotrimad want to expressly thank the attitude of the triathletes in the circumstances, alien to their will, as well as the professionalism of the judges of the Madrid Federation and the Civil Guard traffic in the area. Ecotrimad, undoubtedly, will continue to be an epic triathlon whose history is being made thanks to the thousands of athletes who during these years have experienced the intensity and personality of this unique triathlon.

El Olímpico sin Drafting has had Alejandro Santamaría as male winner, Javier Notario in second position, Alfonso Martínez Ruiz in third. In the feminine category the champion was Eva García González, in second position Beatriz Tenreiro and third Anna Jordens.
