Interview with Alba Reguillo, the best triathlete of Spain in GGEE in Triathlon MD

Alba was the best triathlete in Age Groups in the last Spanish Middle Distance Championship in Valencia

A few weeks ago in the past Spanish Medium Distance Championship of Valencia we had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with Alba Reguillo Moreno, champion of Spain of MD of 30-34, besides obtaining the 8ª of the general and being the best of all the GGEE. Alba lives in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real) and belongs to CT Alcázar

- Hi Alba, good morning. Today we want you to know a little more all the followers of Triathlon News, tell us what do you do and how were your beginnings in triathlon?

Hello, good morning, everyone. I have a degree in CAFyD and I currently work in the Centro Deportivo Global Center in Alcázar de San Juan. I have been practicing sports since I was a child, specifically swimming (my specialty was the breaststroke) where I competed in several Spanish championships. In 2001 I did my first half marathon and started running.

In 2007 I started to study mountain technician, I ran two mountain raids and I started my mountaineering experience, in a year I climbed Veleta, Toubkal, Peñalara, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Almanzor and pico del Lobo ... Finally, about 3 years ago animated by friends I started practicing triathlon ... in my life I had ridden a road bike. My first triathlon was in my town, in Alcázar de San Juan in 2012. Later my first MD was Sevilla in 2013 where I finished second after Ana Ruz.

- How do you combine your work with the trainings?

The truth is that I am very happy with the support provided by the Global Center Sports Center, since I not only work there but also collaborate with me as a sponsor, paying me some expenses and giving me facilities to compete.

On the other hand, my work in some aspects helps me to train since I do many directed classes (and work in the Fitness room) throughout the week, although on the other hand other times it hurts me since many days I find myself tired for perform the specific training, but hey, my coach is very flexible and when necessary we make changes in the planning to adapt to my work environment.

- What are your best sports results?

The competition where I have found the best have been in the two Middle distance Spain championships, last year at the Ecotrimad de Buitrago de Lozoya and this year at the Valencia 113. In both I managed to win in my age group 30-34 and also be 8ª of the general.

Last year I competed in my first IM in Mallorca, where I was 7ª in my GGEE. It was my debut in the distance and I made a very conservative bike ... which then allowed me to run the marathon in 3h22min. Finally a few days ago I was 4ª in Pálmaces, triathlon that I liked a lot.

Alba Reguillo

- 3h22min in the IM Marathon?

Yes, hahaha, the truth that the race on foot has always been very good. In the official time 3h26min marked me, although I had 3h22min on my watch.

- What are your next goals?

At the end of the month I will play the Guadalajara Triathlon, in preparation for the IM of Mallorca, where we want to improve the result of last year, the goal is to try to improve in cycling, if we achieve that, repeating time in swimming and marathon. We could be fighting for Kona

- After being two times champion of Spain MD in GGEE and top 8 of the general For when will you give the jump to elite?

The truth is that I have a lot of respect for the girls who run in elite. For 2016 we are looking with my coach to run in elite, but right now we are very focused on IM Mallorca and doing well there. After Mallorca we will see what we do.

Alba Reguillo

- Well Alba, it has been a pleasure to do this interview, we wish you the best and many encouragement for the IM of Mallorca, with your perseverance and ability to sacrifice we are sure that you will be fighting with the best.

Thanks to you and greetings to all the readers of www.triatlonnoticias.com

Note: So that there are no doubts, we want to clarify that to refer to Alba as the best Spanish MD triathlete in GGEE is based on her results in the national 2014 and 2015 championships where she was the best of all the GGEE.
