Miriam Casillas: from Earth to the Moon in search of Olympic glory

During this season 2015 Miriam Casillas has been the Spanish triathlete who has competed in the most ITU competitions with 20 (1), where she has swum 22,800m, has pedaled 568km and has run 142,5km.

In these 20 competitions Miriam Casillas He has traveled the 5 continents. He has only abandoned one of them in the WTS of Gold Coast in Australia, for a fall in bike.

In total it has covered 175.500km which means almost 4 turns and a half to Earth. If we count the 2014 races where he started to add points for this season in addition to the 2016 competitions, until the WTS of Yokohama, the last race that scores for the Rio JJOO ... Miriam will travel more than 300.000km all over the world in this cycle, in search of his Olympic dream, which is almost the distance from Earth to the Moon (2)

Miriam's best result was the 3ª place in the Alanya World Cup in Turkey. About the race that is most proud of this 2015, Miriam told us "Auckland World Series, it has been my best WTS result but it was more than that. My brother accompanied me to that trip and that made it much more special, the previous weeks were incredible in New Zealand, I was delighted of that country. And also about the competition, I loved the bike circuit and the atmosphere that was in the competition. It was the WTS in which I have most enjoyed competing."

In addition to training, traveling and competing all over the world, Miriam takes time to continue her medical studies at the university: "Thanks to the understanding of the coordinator of studies of my university I could change the dates of the exams and continue with my medical career.

I am currently in sixth grade, in the theoretical part I finished with all approved 5º, and in the practical part (which are 4 months of rotation in Hospital services), I missed a month that I could not do and that I have to recover. So the balance this year has been more than positive, something I did not imagine when I started. This year I will finish sixth, although I will have some internship per monthr ".

Finally, we asked her who supports her and is behind her helping him on this hard journey, to achieve the dream of being at the Olympics. From Rio de Janeiro, "I have to say that my main support is the 'TEAM BLUME', they are the friends, coaches, physios, doctors, companions ..., who are every day with me, they endure my irascibilidades as much as my fits of laughter, they cover me with the wind in the bike, and they make me stronger every day.

And of course, my FAMILY, they support me in everything and when they can, they accompany me on a trip or come to see me. Also I do not want to forget about my FRIENDS and classmates (because this year, as you have been able to check a lot, I have not been able to go to class, and without your notes, encouragement and that you always keep me up to date with everything related to the university, that part It would also have been impossible, in general, I think the most important thing is all those people that surround me on a daily basis, THEY, are my great support"
