Gurutze frades and Gustavo Rodríguez win the V edition of the Bilbao Triathlon

The vizcaya Gurutze Frades and Galician Gustavo Rodríguez, which repeats triumph, have been proclaimed winners in the 5th edition of the Bilbao Triathlon that was held this Saturday in Bilbao

 

 

In the men's category, the fastest was Gustavo Rodríguez, who raised his arms for the second time at the Arenal finish ahead of the Russian Stanislav Krylov, who in the finish line has excelled in 1: 41, and the Croatian champion Andrej Vistica, to which 2.32 has taken.

Rodriguez, who has come a long way back in the swim in the Ría Bilbao, has managed to cut distances in his favorite sector, the bicycle, which has placed him second in the T2 behind Krylov. In the 21 kilometers of running he has been very solid without giving options to his rivals and not a good runner like Uxío Abuin, ultimately disqualified, has been able to cut him time.

"I have responded by bike quite well and that I did not have good feelings. In the water I had problems of blows and burdens and I lost a little more time but that gave me a point of rage to overcome. The climb to the nursery makes a lot and from there we have to leave with strength. He had been in Bilbao since the beginning of the year, he was one of the targets. I was worried because it did not come as I wanted and I am very happy to repeat triumph"Said the Pontevedra triathlete.

In the female category, the strongest has been Gurutze Frades, which was imposed in this race for the first time after overtaking in 2: 24 to the Catalan Judith Corachán and also to Joselyn Brea, who arrived a little more behind. The triathlete of Iurreta, several times champion of Spain, registered her name for the first time in the list of winners of a competition in which she made good water and managed to overcome Corachán in the first part of the race on foot. The Catalan, the great revelation of the 2014, has led the race from the water but has succumbed to the push of the local athlete.
