Gómez Noya "Although the final in Chicago is where the title will be played, arriving as the leader there means that I can face it calmly, depending on my result and not that of the others."

Round day in Stockholm: victory and more advantage in the general

The Swedish round of the World Series could not have a better result for Javier Gómez Noya. Not only has he achieved the victory very clearly, adding points for the general to rule out his worst scoring result, 3º, but the 2º classified in the general classification, Mario Mola, he has not added them since he needed to improve the 8ª square and it has been 12º.

And that the triathlon did not start well because in the swimming phase was involved in the middle of a group and could not get out of the water in front as usual in it. He did it in the 17º position, although fortunately there was no cut of time ahead but a line of triathletes. Giving it all in the first few kilometers, he joined the 24 triathletes group that was to stay together for the rest of the cycling phase.

There were no attacks, and the world champion was always in the front positions, giving the face and motivating the rest so that they would not link more triathletes. It was about getting the maximum advantage possible to the next group and it was increasing until reaching 1'20 at the end of the cyclist phase.

At that height of the triathlon and taking into account that among the first platoon was not one of the best specialists in the phase on foot, the situation looked great for Javi. But the job had to be finished and he did not take long to do it. At the end of the 1ª of the four laps and only two triathletes followed his wake - the Portuguese Pereira and the Australian Royle - and just after the hard final end of each lap next to the Royal Palace he put in another gear and went solo.

He managed to get almost a minute out of the next two laps and just kept the lead on the last one, controlling it on visual benchmarks. He set even better time on foot than the best riders in the 2nd platoon, who went full throttle trying to climb up positions: Fernando Alarza and Mario Mola. After crossing the finish line with apparent freshness, he once again demonstrated his lordship, waiting to congratulate those who were arriving, especially the rest of the Spanish.

His statements make it clear that he is in a sweet moment both physically and mentally in order to achieve a new world title: "In swimming I felt bad and I did not manage to swim comfortably in the head. Fortunately, despite being late, I can link in the 1 turn and from there I already controlled the triathlon. We organized well in the head group and on foot I felt great. Although in the final in Chicago is where the title is going to be played, arriving as a leader there means that I can face it calmly, depending on my result and not on the others.s ".

But before that he has another challenge next Sunday in Kaprun (Austria), to revalidate the world title of distance ½ Ironman, not dependent on the international federation but on the Ironman brand: "It is a challenge for me. Not only is it twice as far as today, but it is done with the bicycle regulations alone and the goat bike is used. I have not prepared it specifically and I will have as rivals triathletes who are dedicated to that distance all season. But it's something that attracts me and I'll go out and give it everything like in any other triathlon."

Therefore Javier will travel directly from Sweden to Austria, and from there to North America for the 2 last appointments of the World Series in Edmonton and Chicago.
