The triathlon club of the University of Alicante sweeps in this first edition.

The day dawned cloudy in the Postiguet Beach of Alicante, and the wind began to make a presence and could add hardness to a demanding cycling circuit that would surround the castle of the city.

At 8.15 hours the triathletes who were going to compete in the Olympic competition were placed at the start line. A few minutes later the technical officials of the Valencian Community started the competition. In the Olympic distance they had to give two laps to a swimming circuit of 750 meters, 5 cycling laps and 4 of running, all this to complete the 1500 meters swimming, 40 kilometers on the bike and 10 running.

After the 8.40 and when all the Olympic distance triathletes had already covered the first round of swimming, all those registered for the Sprint race took the start. These would have to perform 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling to 3 turns to the circuit, and 2 running laps on foot to add the usual 5 kilometers of this distance.

The Plaza of the Port of Alicante has witnessed how each of the more 400 registered in these two modalities were crossing the finish line. The first to do so were the triathletes who were competing in the Sprint competition. Three triathletes from the University of Alicante have occupied the podium. The winner has been Carlos Ferrando, that after a great sector of career on foot has obtained this deserved first position. His final goal time has been 01: 04: 44. In the second place his companion has arrived Luka Paliska, who had also competed in Saturday's day. His time in goal has been 01: 04: 56. The third to cross the finish line has been Javier Magallón, also a member of the local club, which has taken 01: 05: 55 to complete the three segments.

In females Emma Varga has been the clear winner, entering the goal in 01: 13: 32. Secondly Nika Carbova, from Here To Win, has ended in 01: 14: 37. In third place Ana Almer, also from the club of the local University, has achieved the position stopping the clock in 01: 19: 50.

Close to reaching the two hours of competition has come the clear winner of the Olympic competition, Lasse Luhrs, from the University of Alicante, who has reached the 01: 51: 01 goal, and has won the title without encountering any other triathlete that could have endangered his first position. In second place and with a time of 02: 09: 39 has reached the finish line the triathlete of the CT Murcia Unidata Francisco Javier Quirantes. The third box of the podium has been for Vicente Miñana, of CT Huracán Clultbikes, with a time of 02: 01: 41.

In girls the first and second position has been again for two members of the University of Alicante. With a time of 02: 09: 16 has crossed the finish line the Mexican triathlete Sara Roel. Second and in 02: 14: 17 has arrived Andrea Balan The third place on the podium was for the triathlete Carla Nebreda, of another of the local clubs the CT Arena Alicante, that has stopped the clock in 02: 22: 24.

A great morning of triathlon that put the finishing touch to a weekend where the city of Alicante has been able to enjoy our sport, in its purest state, the popular sport.
